prolly the same for a 68 !!!  this is what & how was on my 69  SPD 22 nd of November 68 , previously unrestored / untouched from the factory

                   front of car
                  WINDSHIELD

          1    tan / light brown
          2    sublime
          3    light blue
          4    pink
          5    mauve / purple / lavender
          6    black / gray / bare
                       
                  REAR GLASS

not that is makes any difference  , painted end  was on the passenger side

been 10 years since i done mine !! ,   but yes that would make sence  ,  !  just go by the color coding  , wont go wrong !  
  have you got the 2 tensioning springs that hold the  number 6  black / gray / bare ,  bow under tension ??
