well when ya talk about clean, remember the '68 mixed circles and squares while the '69 sticks to the square duct shapes...  :yesnod:
i like the '68 fine but the '69 has some improved details and to my eye the '70 looks abit softened. I wish they had made the '70 with a body color front bumper, myself...
i wish i had another 20 K to spend on my car...  :'(

THE COLONEL

I love the 69 Charger myself.  I love the grille, but what gets me every time I look at mine at night, is the way the tail lights look.  I don't think I have ever seen a more bad a$$ car from the back at night. :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

This must be rigged....'69 never loses.   :ahum:   :icon_smile_big:

Gadzooks, you're in 2nd place...time to sell :icon_smile_tongue:. This is a fun thread. I love watching Strat try to convince everyone that the '69 rules, and also him whoring up the site with pictures of his ride. Maybe that's why you guys are in 2nd?   :nana:

My '68 has a lot of sentimental value too so the results don't bother me too much.  I was always surprised the "firstborn" '68's didn't do better in one of the other 50 polls I have voted in. ;)

Again, for the record, I would be happy to own any 2nd generation...especially one of those "unpopular" 1970 models like yours.  :D

P.S. You '70 guys and your Pistol Grip shifters drive me nuts....I still haven't put my newly chromed '69 original back in. :P

Hmmm... I'm not sure how to take that?   :blush2:   :haha:

The 68 is my all time favorite.  The grille is the sweetest piece of design placed on any car ever.  As if the grille wasn't enough, the round markers and tails really push the 68 to the top of the list for me.  I also like the interior and the fact that it was the first of the 2nd Gens.  Those are the reasons why I own one :yesnod:

The 69 is my next favorite, with the 70 being last on my list, but I still love them all and would love one of each...including the first and third gens :icon_smile_cool:

Don't worry, it is just a little jealousy talking.  :icon_smile_shy:   ;)

Take it as the one thing I agree that the 1970 Charger has over the '68 and '69 models....OK, maybe the six pack was a nice option too, and I suppose the Rallye wheels, high back buckets weren't bad either.....

Why is 1970 in 3rd place again?:scratchchin:

If your leave the ones with WINGS off the list I would pick the 68 R/T.Those round tail lights and that clean front end.Fill the back with rubber and give it a little rake and you have one mean looking mopar.Painted BLACK of coarse.

I have started my search for first muscle car last year and I fell in love with 2nd gen, although my financial situation didn't allow me to get one (I'm happy with my '73 though).

As for this matter I can say that I can't decide but I would say in total appearance '68 (maybe I would like '69 tail lights on it).

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

It's the '70 for me....it's the options!!!   It had to start somewhere...so I guess without the '68 and '69 there would be no '70 Charger.

Well, actually it started with a fastback in 66 but we won't go there in a 2nd gen thread.   ;)

So it's my fault eh?..     ::)
Too bad they don't modify the looks of the cars like they did when we were kids...   :icon_smile_dissapprove:
i remember seeing the re-styled '69 inna Magazine in late '69 and thinking "Cool!"
When i saw those long space invader tailights and the the grill splitter in front with it's six louvers reminded me of a F-4 Phantom. I loved it!   :icon_smile_big:
...still do!

Here's my attempt at voting twice. :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

beenaround

to answer the question,my family has owned them all from a 68 rt,69rtse,70,500 two 70 rt's,they each hold a special memory in our hearts.but it all leads up to my wanting what i considered the ulitmate charger! the 1970!!! you will never beat the pistol grip shifter or the  high back seats!!!so to each and all enjoy what you have because we only pass this way once!!!

BROCK

I prefer the 70 R/T SE!!!!!!!!  The hood scallops are much nicer than prior years, the door scoops are unique as are the
highback buckets, plush woodgrain door panels, high impact colors, 440 SixPack, Sunroof, etc etc, etc.  The list of 70
only extras extends around the block past prior years.

I never cared for the 70 model inner door panels as much as 68 and 69.  The standard map pocket on the 68 and 69's just seems to be an improtant part of the interior to me.  The 70 models without it look bare and the way they add it to the models that took it seems out of place to me.

Hey Stratocharger, They didn't make one with a painted bumper, but I did. Here's how it looks.     Al

Well....the poll is accurate because there were at least 3x as many 68-69's produced than the 70's
so therefore alot more of them around and therefore more voters because more people have them.

chargervert

I think 69 Charger 2002,has the plan for settling this dispute! Have one of all three years!,then have a few more in the backround for good measure! I have 5 of them myself! I have 2 68s,1 69,and 2 70s! Hey Al, I still love that painted front bumper on the 70! It looks killer!

Sublime/Sixpack

I like all three, the '68, the '69 and the '70, but my preference is the 1970 model R/T. This being because of the 440 Six Pack option, new high impact colors, 15" Rallye rims and Goodyear Polyglas tires, pistol grip shifter, door scoops, solid butt stripe, hood pins, and the new front bumper/grille that looks as though it could suck in a Lincoln Continental, chew it up and spit it out the exhaust.
