This is interesting.  With all the recognition the 69 gets from the DOH, I thought for sure it'd blow the other two years out of the water.  Not because I like them, but just because of the recognition thing.

1968 - Simply put the design was simply stunning and uncluttered - the flush grill, round tail lights, and coke bottle shape in my opinion was the baddest form to come out detroit... ever...

I couldn't decide so I bought a 68 four speed car and a 69 console auto. (both 440's) People ask me why I have 2 Chargers. My response is that I don't have enough room in my garage for 3!

70s dont do it for me... im not a fan of the grille at all, and the doors with those scoops or whatever

I like the 70 grill but I have never liked those door scoops.  Sure the big R/T callouts are cool but the scoops just look "thrown" on.  Also they hide the cool double door indentions that are one of the best parts of Charger body lines.

The 1969 is my overall favorite, but the '68 is damn close. The only item I don't care for on the '68 is the taillights. They look like the designers were rushed and they just threw a set of trailer lights on the car. The '69-70 style seems to fit the body design.

I read a story years ago that the '68s were to have the same tail lights that ther '69s did, but was changed at the last minute. I love those '69 tail lights, but after having a '68 for 18 years, they come close.

You don't know where you saw that do you?  I thought I saw a picture of a clay styling mockup for the 68 model once in it's early stages and it had round taillights with dual gas caps and a fastback.

Interesting.  I should still have that issue kicking around somewhere, I'll have to dig through them and see if I can find it.

68.  No ugly divider in the grille or ugly wrap-around front bumper.

Well, I've got to admit, although I own a yellow 68 R/T (which I am thankful to have mind you) I have aways prefered the 69 split grille & thin tailights much better than the 68 setup. The round tailights are cool. I guess, but seem wrong on the sleek body of the 2nd gen. I never have been in love with the 70's much at all. I love the body, but the front end is totally wrong (my opinion) I've always thought the 70's would look alot better if the grille were totally blacked out, I dont like the chromed/silver grille highlights. All in all, I have to vote for the 69, great looks all around. I guess I do like the 68 interior better come to think of it though. I'll keep my 68 though, I wouldnt kick it out of the garage... :icon_smile_wink:

Nothing is BADDER than a triple black 68 Hemi Charger. Luv those round tail lights & markers.      A 70 6-pack Plum R/T is a close second though.   :drool5:

Ditto. Something about the "I" trim piece does not do it for me. I'm a bit prejudice, since I own a 68.

Very well. Now, what about the '69 does it for you? I'm sure the members would like to know (aside from the DOH connection, of course   :P).

69 because it was the first one I fell in love with and owned.  68 would be #2 because it is the most drastic difference from the other 2 2nd gens and I love the round side markers, they were on my dad's 68 Valiant growing up.
Over?! its not over until we say it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!...Hell no! and its not over now!..(Germans? Pearl Harbor?...shut up, he's on a roll)

'68, just look at that grill, it looks tough.   And the round taillights are cool.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

At one time I prefered the 1969 (even though I already had the Triple Black 1968), but over the years I have changed my mind and like the 68 the best because of its pure, clean, classic design...  I still prefer the interior of the 1969 though...
