Hood pad install...which way

Getting ready to install my hood pad.....which way should face down....the motor side? Thanks!

I think you're talking about the hood insulation pad, if so the molded one will be obvious as to how it goes in. The cheaper flat pad should be easy too. Good luck.

Great answer.  :slap:   If it were obvious and easy he probably wouldn't have asked.   :lol:  To be fair I'm nowhere near that on my 68 yet so I haven't seen what they look like.

Originally "they" say the molded pads are the correct ones...I have seen some supposed original unrestored cars that have the "old rag" type that were installed just like that.....the "old rag" side facing toward the engine.... :Twocents:

Great sarcasm. My meaning was clear in thatf it were a molded pad there is only way it'll mount. The unmolded pads have one edge narrower than its opposite meaning its width is different front to back - windshield edge vs the of the front of the hood edge. I don't have an unmolded pad on my car so I am unfamiliar with the texture on either side.

On the unmolded pads there is a smooth/bonded side & the other side is raw fiberglass/fuzz or "old rag" ;)
