I've seen Chargers used as demo cars before...  relax... it was 30 years ago - half of you weren't even born yet.   Anyway...  It wasn't good  :icon_smile_blackeye:

Tell the guy that there's better candidates...  like the fleets of junk crown vic cop cars all over the place.
Black Betty:  1969 Charger R/T - X9 440 six pack, TKO600 5 speed, 3.73 Dana 60.
Sinnamon:  1969 Charger R/T - T5 440, 727, 3.23 8 3/4 high school sweetheart.

He's yanking your chain just to get this kind of reaction out of you.

Any derby guy worth a salt knows a unibody Charger is worthless as a derby car and won't last but maybe a single round of action before it is too bent to be useful.

Well, when he told us what he was going to do about the tools issue.. we also thought he was yanking our chain also.. but WHEN he did IT that was not yanking our chains anymore as he really did DO it.

He would always tell us how he could do this and that in afew of the stores and not get caught.. well we always thought he was only kidding around with us as in yanking our dang chains all the time. BUT after he really did the stuff and got caught over it THAT was when we started to look at him different. He as always been talking about my charger and that someday it might go missing when I'm not home.. and with the way he said it the other day to me and the tone he used.. I'm on alert now. If he does like he said he do in the stores.. I wouldn't put it past him now about the charger.

Oh this guy could get a car yes and fix up, but in afew months it wouldn't be nice anymore, as it would be all beat up and not running right and be park and for sale probably if he didn't demo it. Almost each car he has had in the past when he was done with them he would demo them if he didn't take them to scrap yard. Doesn't matter to him what kind of car it is, to him it's a demo car  ::) .

So let me get this straight...this guy comes to your neck of the woods (I'm assuming it's like Deliverance out there) and tells you in a serious tone that your car may disappear one day and basically saying he would be the one to take it? Now, fast forward to after he takes it (hypothetical of course). You are saying he will use it in a demo derby after he hangs q. panels on it? Oh, and I am sure the derby is not too far away, so he will basically steal your car, fix it up at a place I am sure you know of and then derby it while you are in the stands?

Is that about right?

Step right up fellas'.  I brought out the truck:

Yea, he came out to visit me for alittle while.. and then we got talking about the charger well he did really by starting off with "Why don't you give me the charger for a demo car? it would be nice to see it in black primer" and then when I ask him why does each car he looks at he thinks of demo cars for and he said "Someday it's going to turn up missing when your not here". Well I got my neighbors that keeps an eye on my place all the time and some does my one other cousin (he's 65 years old and vetnam soldier  :icon_smile_wink:). Yea it would probably be him be the one to take it because he said the same thing about the tools before also. I know him alittle also as we grew up sense we was kids and yes he would be the type to weld skins on the rear and really demo it. The closes derby track is like 20 miles away maybe alittle more. I know of afew places he can fix it up at. Would he demo it with me in the stands? Yea he probably would as he wouldn't care that much long as he could run it.

On the bright side I have alot of friends that always talks to me about the car and ask how it's coming along and they know it's not for sale and that I wouldn't get red of it either.. so I'm sure if it went missing and they started asking and found out he by chance just came up with a charger and he had no title to it.. I'm sure they would put 2 and 2 togother  and I would hear about it. Plus I also mark the car in afew places and different ways also. I won't say where as all I would have to do is just look at the car. Plus afew close friends of mine KNOWS where one mark is located at also  and all they would have to do is just see that mark and know something is wrong (if the car was some place else) and come to me.

We just had a friend that came home to the demo derby in his own home.
Trust your Woobie!

Not sure that a demo derby person that wants to win would pick this kind of a car because of it's construction. Not a expert but I think there would be better canidates. Like mabey 1950 buick. :shruggy:

Wow.

Well , if the car does go missing one day at least you know who to looking for! :2guns:

Next time he makes a comment like that just tell him he needs to invest in some bullet proof clothing. :D

So seriously, you really think a friend of yours is dumb enough to not only broadcast the fact that he is a would-be car thief and that you are the most likely victim but that he plans to use your stolen car in a derby? Is this what you're saying? :slap:

Tell you what, Jim, you don't have to worry about this guy because I am going to steal your car and use it for a mailbox holder out in front of my unicorn ranch in La-La Land, Montana.

Well, your over looking one thing, he told people he would get the tools before and look what he went and did. If he did that I would not put it past him about the car deal either.

I only made this thread the other day to see how you all would feel if you all was in my shoes and had someone like him say that to you.

I don't think that would be good, either. Maybe a 2009 Malibu?

I was at a local demo this past summer. Small town demo, guys don't go to the extremes setting up their cars like some of the more competitive ones in the midwest. Amongst the big '70's Lincolns, Caddy's, etc, a late '80's Ford Taurus kicked their asses. Go figure.

Please, make this stop!

BTW - I like the responses from our older, wiser and logical members - well done guys, thanks for throwing gas onto the fire!   :eek2:

I don't even see where this is a problem, get a base ball bat, and go visit this moron that keeps wanting your Charger, explain to him the next time you hear those words out of his mouth you'll knock his F-ing teeth down his throat.

Why do you people over think these things? LOL

We think alike! :2thumbs:

Especially if you want to use the car at more than one derby.

The cars my Dad used to use were usually toast after one derby but he always placed.

Blakcharger440

What kind of car does he drive and what other stuff does he have? I would put a hurtin on anybody if they tried to touch my Charger in the wrong way.  :yesnod:

MoparManJim

Okay, I wanted to lay this to rest, I ran into a friend of his today. His friend ask me how the charger was doing and after I told him how it was coming along, I then said to him that reminded of something and that I wanted to ask afew of my cousin's friends about. I told him what my cousin said last week to me about my charger and I didn't take it to kindly at all.. he said he heard some stuff also from my cousin that he was only joking about taking the car. I made it real clear to him to give my cousin the message that I wasn't to happy with that joke at all and that I consider it being serous and real. He said that he had to I guess swing by my cousin's place this evening anyways to get afew parts from him. Stuff like that about takings a person car is nothing to joke about in my book. I took it very serous as you can tell.

Now about what kind of car my cousin drives? well that depends on how he treats the vehicle  . I have seen him take a car and go off roading real hard and then complain that there was something with the car and that something had went out  ::).

bull

Wow, I'm shocked. The guy was joking all along.
