Great choice on the Charger project.  After all, what the hell's the point of a 10 second truck?

Wilde Racing

Started header building last night...

The housings are split scroll so I am trying to take advantage of that. Number one and five will feed the front portion. Number three and seven will feed the rear.

Great project and thanks for the photos! Did you mention what turbos you are using? All the best...

Well I got the overall header design done. I still need to finish the merge at the flange for number one and five. and tack number five. The headers are as equal length as I have patience for, Number three is about an inch to short..:eyes:

Impressive work!! I've Always wanted to do something like this to my 02 dodge truck, With its low comp ratio, i hink it would be a good canidate for it.

The turbos are garretts. Not sure of the model, but the inducer is 56.5mm the exducer is 74.8mm. The will support 250-500 hp each. They are too small for my end goals (over 1000 rwhp) but I got them ultra cheap and plan to replace them once I get the bugs worked out.....

Thanks, I just hope I planed a-head enough to not run into any large problems. I dont want to cut any holes in this car....

Thanks, I think everything is a good candidate for a turbo or two.... :yesnod:

Obviously this engine is not going to see over 1000 without some major work done to the engine it's self. Sense the car has not been ran for 20 plus years, I'd like to get it to move on it's own power before I rebuild the engine/trans/rear-end....

I got the drivers side header all tacked together. I need adjust one primary that rolled while tacking, but now I just need to make a device to hold the stupid thing and weld her up....

here is a few shots of the last merge, what a pain in the ass.....

Just curious why you do not rebuild these pieces now?  I would not think the old motorhome engine will last long in that thing.  Gas motorhomes have high rear end gears to get up to speed, and are really turning high rpms's while on the highway.  Most older gas motorhome engines do not last over 80,000 miles.  Just seems like a lot of work, for something which will not last without a rebuild.  Just curious.

There really is no extra work other than the removal and install of the engines once this one goes. Money actually has a lot more to do with it, if I had the money I would just rebuild it now. I also learned something else in doing all my other projects. The more small projects you stack on at the same time, ie, new trans, rebuilt engine, turbos, fuel injection, tuning, restoring, the chances for "bugs to work out" grow exponentially.. I'm already doing more than I like at one time, and it seams I add one more thing to the list of things to do every day.

I never really thought about the previous life of the motorhome engine. but I never planed on it lasting long. In my truck I was able to keep a stock engine alive for only a little over a year before the ring lands gave out. I proved this with three different stock engines. Boost was way higher and I drove the truck everyday. I was hoping for about the same engine life in this car. Boost will be low and with compression already super low in these engine, it "should" last??? :shruggy:

Thanks for the heads up on the life line of the motorhome engines, one more thing move toward the for front of my mind for planing....

Sure.  I own my own RV dealership and see many 440's, 460's, 454's trashed at 50,000 miles.  Most older gas motorhomes have a 3:73 to 4:10 rear end, and driving across the country at 70 mph takes it toll on them.

Good luck with the build, she looks good so far.  :2thumbs:

Looking good. You are getting further than I am with my twins on my Challenger. So far I have the Keith Black alum Hemi block in the chassis mocked up with front & mid-plates. I want to mount the turbos up in the grille area. So that is next. Fabbing everything for the turbo hot & cold sides. Sorry no pictures yet. Never think to take a camera out in the garage.

Yours sounds a bit more hp capable than mine ever will be, 6pkrtse... :2thumbs:

I got a few supplies the other day. I could not stand the titanic looking factory water pump and my planed belt routing wont allow a full on electric water pump, I decided to go with a cheap cast aluminum one from 440 source.

Did 440 source ever clear up their overheating problem everyone was having from the restricted water port holes on the housing??? If I remember right most put the stock one back on after finding out that problem.
