You could make it a Daytona, that'd give you a little more room :icon_smile_big:  Lookin good so far :2thumbs:

Thanks, the scary thing is I was actually thinking about that.. lol

Wilde - Amazing work, just that you are even doing it.  I'm just following along and learning, it sounds like you know what you're doing.  The hardware is impressive and not having welded since high-school shop class I think your welding looks pretty good.  I'd be totally impressed just to see it run, but if you want it pretty it looks like there is plenty opportunity to do a little polishing to have a show-winning engine.

I have welded on occasion since high school. I have always been just good enough to get by, I just keep waiting for all my "practice" to start showing up...lol  BTW, you can see some of my awesome aluminum welds in on of the shots. The TIG is an amazing tool, I have only had mine for a couple of months, I actually dread using the MIG for anything anymore.  lol

I will also be impressed if the thing will ever run!

Thanks

Remember, the key word I see often mentioned over and over is "Budget"....Pretty welds aren't always strong, and strong welds aren't always pretty.

Awesome work BTW..

Also gonna try and do about the same thing with the Challenger one day. Already have the Mustang Gt F.I. set up with computer, just gotta get on the lathe and make a half Ford, half Chrysler distributor.

Yours sounds a bit more hp capable than mine ever will be, 6pkrtse... :2thumbs:

I got a few supplies the other day. I could not stand the titanic looking factory water pump and my planed belt routing wont allow a full on electric water pump, I decided to go with a cheap cast aluminum one from 440 source.

oops look for the thread on cooling issues regarding these water pumps from 440 source , if this is one of them , do not use it !

Looken' Impressive so far, keep up the great work...  :2thumbs: I vote for the Daytona clone too...

I just read this entire thread and I'm hooked...whats the status with WILDE? :popcrn:

Wilde Racing

Hi all, It's been a long time sense I got a change to work on the charger, but that is about to change. I have been super busy at work, I sold my JET drill mill and bought a 1942 Van Norman mill and spent time getting it up and running. I also just finished a bumper project for a friend.... On top of all that I started a new hobby, First Person View rc plane flying, For those of you who don't know, FPV flight is an amazing way to experience rc airplanes, helicopters and other flying configurations. The hobby requires a HAM license, small camera that is mounted on the r/c vehicle, a small video transmitter, and a video receiving station equipped with t/v screen to view the video transmitted by the craft. The pilot flies the plane using just the video. It is a very fun and challenging hobby, and of course time consuming....

Here are a few shots of the Van Norman, It is more ridged than my old jet.

Here is the Jet 16..

Which got replaced with this funny looking monster...

The Van Norman is three phase so I had to buy, mount, and wire two frequency drivers. I also mounted a digital read out with glass scales because I really like not having to count the number of cranks.

(Cutting bumper parts)

Now for the bumper...

A friend at work wanted a bumper the was strong , alow for a winch to be mounted, front drop hitch and not kill ground clearance. This is what I came up with. This project took WAY longer than it should have, any time I got to go to the garage and work on the charger was spent on this instead...  :icon_smile_blackeye:

Here is my FPV stuff with a few videos..

The two crafts I have working now. A tri-copter and a foam airplane.

My ground station, This "station" receives the video signal and displays it on the screen.

Here are a few videos..

The very first FPV flight with the tri-copter.

And two of the Plane, the second video is VERY short and features a crash :brickwall:

Thank you for the heads up. others have also warned me about the potential issue and I have already sold the 440 source pump.

I believe my pump is a truck pump, I have the original pump with the outlet on the other side, but with my crank position sensor I needed the truck pump..

That's my life up date for now lol, but I will be working on the charger soon, in-fact I spent most of yesterday preparing the garage and car for "Charger" work... :popcrn:

I know it's probably buried in the thread but what size turbo's are you running. since your running twins do you use two smaller ones?

Yep to smaller ones they are around 60mm??? I'll have to look at the maps I found, they should support 400-500 hp each.

Awesome project.  After seeing this I realize my only talent is playing with my belly button lint  :'(. Can't wait to see your project completed.

Air to water for two reasons; One is room, there is no way I could fit an typical air to air type cooler in front of the radiator and pusher fans without massive grill modifications, which I don't like the idea of modifying anything to get the project to work. the air to waters require a much thinner heat exchanger that I could deal with much easier. The second reason is the cost. a super custom twin inlet air to air costs a lot of money. Now that I own a TIG welder I might have tried building my own air to air, but maybe next time....

I can't recall much about the turbos off hand, I'll dig up some of my old notes. One thing for curtain, I have a plan to replace the turbos once I get the bugs worked out, again, the drive is funding......

im thinking about putting together a single or twin turbo setup on the stock 400 that going into my 72. im trying to figure out a good size in either or. ill be rebuilding an edelbrock or holley into a blowthru..yeah real budget project for sure haha. a single would be cheaper, so maybe something off a diesel. junkyard charger build!
