new "daytona" trucks...

i personaly think ALL NEW DODGE TRUCKS ARE UGLY! what idiot dreamed up the new dakota/durango? i would own one of those ugly litle toyota boxes first (scion or some crap). as for the rumble bee and daytonas, i think they are cool packages. i dont really like the 17s or whatever on a 4x4 that sits so high. if it was a 2wd or at least didnt sit so high with all the extra room in the wheel wells it would look nicer. my girlfriends sister has a 4 door daytona, its not as ugly as the standard pickup.
as for not liking it cuz i cant afford it, that isnt the problem at all, but my personal feelings on late model vehicles is that they cost more than they are worth when a 5 year old truck does the same job and costs about 4-6 payments on your new truck.

I usually buy new vehicles for my everyday use. They're more dependable and it's nice having that warranty. I like the idea of jumping in and heading out across the country without worrying whether I'm going to make it there or not.
But, truthfully, most of my cars are 31 to 36 years old. ;D

If you could get it with a diesel I might be interested! ;D
:iagree:  A 2500 Daytona diesel would be cool and make more power than a 5.7 Hemi anyday. Although, the wing would have to go on the shelf for my gooseneck trailer to work. One thing that dad found out while buying his is the trailer tow package is not available with the Daytona option. You can take off the rear flare and put a frame hitch on but, they do not come pre wired for electric barke controllers which is lame.

Besides I just looked up 0-60 times on a stock ranger and a stock Hemi dodge and I beat it by 2 full seconds.

Ahaaa, Ah, hahahaha.   Some of us take our Ram trucks to the drag strip. And I know I'm blustery about this subject, but there's No Way any Ranger runs 2 seconds quicker than a Ram 1500 series with a 5.7 Hemi.
Maybe 2 seconds quicker than a Ram 3500 series with Hemi, loaded with   3000lbs of rocks and towing a '69 Daytona on a trailer..... then, maybe... :rotz: :icon_smile_cool:

I guess I was wrong I went deeper into that article and found this:

4x4 1500:
Performance ratings (C/D est):
Zero to 60 mph: 8.3-10.5 sec

My 4x4 ranger :

the V-6 punted our 4020-pound Ranger to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds

I guess Can only beat it by .2 seconse, but I still paid 15,000 Less! and I can drive down a hunting trail without having to clear cut it!

Just kidding.

As for the daytona truck...don't forget, we thought the daytona and superbird looked rediculous when they came out. No one wanted them.
oh yes, because it is the exact same situation  ::)
get real.
gtx, daytona and rumble bee are just ploys to sell more trucks, oh and defficate all over the names we once loved.

Who knows why people take their wings off. They just do. Happy now?

Here are the practical reasons I can think of.

1) Want to put a topper on instead.
2) Want to put a toneau cover on instead.
3) Want to put bedrails on instead.
4) Want to use the truck to haul things and do not want to damage the wing or work around it.
5) Don't like how it looks.

They look like SRT10 rims to me.
The only regret that I have about buying the daytona ram is not spending another 10k for the SRT10 truck, but my wife loved the wing and the go-mango color so the rest is history.
I'm thinking about buying an SRT10 for me next year. Anyone want to buy my modified 2000 Trans Am? ;D

hey!! , i may.. would it happen to be black? my wife has the biggest itch for a black trans am again. ram air.. a fast one would surely do the trick. you'd think a loaded up black 70 R/T SE charger would do the trick, but oh no.. she would take the trans am anyday.. ah well, at least she lets me hoard my chargers in my mini junkyard of a backyard without complaining.. so what if she loves a pontiac. can't think of a better car i'd rather have from 98-02
trav
shoot me a price and some pics on that trans am when you get ready

I would love to own one of those SRT10 shortbeds! Those are awesome! I will get me one
sometime in the next couple of years.
I own a 02 Dodge Q-CAB 4x4 and I think its one of the best trucks out there today.
I dont likey the Chivvvy and the Fawd trucks at all.

I actually saw another one today with the wing on.  I can die in peace now......
