Hi

First of thanks Steve for the pic!

Now onto my thoughts that I have seen it in person.

Allen you are right, it isnot (pretty close though) perfect.

1: The front bumperets (is that what you call them? the 2 chrome bits that are on either side of number plate that kinda holds bumper up)... one of them looks like someone got a grinder and ground some off. They need replacing. - For some reason now that I have seen the car again they are pretty perfect, only one is slightly damaged.... dunno what the... I saw the first day

2: The driver door top interior panel is loose and the lock door mechanism is quite loose also. Is that bust or can it be fixed?

3: The Gauges (fuel etc) doesnt work. It does work, It said empty and the car was idling so I thought it didnt :slap:, went out on the road, 200 meters later car runs out of fuel :brickwall: , 2 hours later I manage to get the car back. It was stuck in the middle of the road, the power steer is a dog to turn without car being on AND to top it off battery died :eek2:. Thankfully it was 7pm but still... not a good feeling. Jump started it 20-30 times, put fuel in it, and finally by 9pm we got the car back down the road IN reverse.

4: The entire dash face can do with a face lift (little brown bits on gear stick also and wiper handle)

5:Window wipers do not work. They do work... weird.

6: Lights etc I didnt get a chance to check. They all work except 3 side marker lights which I found 3 new light bulbs in the driver door, Al, you must of forgot they were there. Thanks

7: No shoulder belts for the front seats? Is that normal for 68???

8: No rear seat belts (bah) Been told they are there, cant seem to find them, will look better next time i go down there.

9: Break Pedal sticks and car squeaks while it drives Squeaking has ended with the car being used a little

10: Inner guard (wheel well) on the front of the car completely missing... Was that missing before or have the shipping companies taken parts of this car??? Miss-information, its just a small panel that stops you seeing inside the engine bay through the door, its that inner guard that is missing, no big deal.

Other then that.... I LOVE THE CAR!  :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:
That color with the white is absolutely gorgeous. The paint on front fender on top has faint 'lines' through it as though its cracking and theres a slight scratch on right hand door.
Now the BIG PROBLEM.............

CAR GOT HERE AND IT RAINED, YOUR TRUNK LEAKED WATER AND ALL THE RECEIPTS GOT DRAINED THAT YOU EVER HAD SINCE 1968 (i was about to cry) :eek2:

I got home... I tried to peal them off one by one and spent 2 hours... by Gods grace they all pealed off without ripping and the ink on them didn't leak but they totally discolored because the color in the paper leaked into the other ones... so IT WAS SAVED!!!!!!

The photo you put in for me is pretty much dead though  :bawling:

NEVER send papers in a car again!.

So all in all... i am very happy with it. Thank you for the car and I hope to see you in the US if I end up there Allen. This car is awesome.

O yeah, No rust as you said.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Im happy but you should see my wife *Big Grin*

Considering I almost crossed everything off... wow it really is really really good  :icon_smile_big:

charger Downunder

Hi George i got home late tonight still haven't looked at the charger in the daylight. Sounds like there might be some electrical work to sought out. Looks like you will have to be locked in the trunk with the torch while i spray it with water to find the leak.

Yes. They were an option in '68 .

I am truly sorry about the magazines picture and documentation.  Glad to here the windshield wipers work, I have had it in the rain and never had a problem with them.  It never sat out in the rain are was driven in a storm.  AS I said before it has been a great car for me and I hope it is for you and your wife as well.

If the battery was very low that may be why the Wipers did not work :shruggy:  I know on my hauler the battery was very low and I tried to use the power windows the new window moter worked but the old one wouldn't :shruggy:  After I charged the battery they both worked.  I had always kept the 68 on a battery tender trickle Charger, until I brought the Daytona home.  Then I moved Georges 68 to my daughters garage and the tender went to the Daytona.  I did start it once a month for the four months it was at my daughters but never drove it.  the squeeking probably would not have been there had I taken it for a drive every week :brickwall:  I just felt like it wasn't mine any more so I shouldn't be driving it :Twocents:

We love it Al. Thanks for being an honest seller (first one I met that is)

Will get few things sorted out this weekend hopefully. I gotta get a horn for the charger, you drove it 8 years without? Whats wrong with you guys

Al, front floor pan gets water inside when it rains, is it possible that its the windscreen seal thats letting water through or is there a rust hole somewhere as to why its comming in?

Just need to know what to check for to get it running.

I also think for the trunk leak its only the trunk seal... it wouldnt be comming through the rear window panel would it?

Get in the trunk with a flashlight (swimsuit optional), and then get a friend with a garden hose....   Seriously.   :icon_smile_wink:

Just a guesstimate.  The front area is most likely the wiper pivot.  Where the wiper arms go into the car.  Replacements are cheap, it's just replacing them that's a pain.

The water in the trunk is prolly coming from the rear window.  The car's freshly restored I thought so the trunk lid seals are prolly OK.  I've owned prolly a dozen Mopars over 25 years now & not one of them didn't leak.  Even the rotisserie restored Challenger I sold last winter leaked.

Chargers leaked water & started rusting when they were new.

The trunk seal was replaced after the first paint job about 8 or 9 years ago but should be fine they have never seen weather both front and rear glass was replaced the front was a new piece the rear was used.  Reciepts for just about all that has been purchased or work I hired out will be in  the wet folder in the trunk along with all the registration forms :slap:  Man I wish I had put all that stuff in the back seat :brickwall:

Yessir, I can vouch for that one!! These cars leak period..there's no way to stop it..If you have one that doesn't leak, it doesn't have rain on it and is inside...I've NEVER seen an older car that is DRIVEN out of the garage, that doesn't leak...this is why you see all these guys at car shows leaving early trying to beat the weather, or breaking out the huge, palstic tarp to toss over their pride and joy when a storm blows up...When a customer asks me "Whadda mean it's gonna leak water, and I can't wash it with a hose??"
I simply reply, "It took 30 plus years of Washing, raining on, and general thinking it didn't leak for all that rust to accumulate, do you want to restore it again?"

Then, I get hit with this one....."Do you guarantee your work not to rust out?"
My reply, "Did the factory give a guarantee??"
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

I find that weird because my red charger I replaced the trunk seal with a super soft seal and the leaking stopped. Trunk has been dry ever since. :shruggy:

Dont worry Allen about receipts, I saved every single one, it is all readable, no information lost, and they are all seperated from eachother AND they sit nice and dry inside my folder which will go inside a plastic box with water proof lid to ensure it never gets wet again
