Forgot to mention.  With the NAPA wires, I pulled back the boot on the coil, and it would shoot a spark 1½" long, and with a pop.  The blue you see in the pic I posted are faint, and more of a glow than real sparks.  If I run my hand near any of the wires, you can see a blue glow develop between my hand and the wire, like a dancing cloud, and I don't feel anything.

Installed FireCore 250 wires and NGK XR5 plugs.  Don't know if it's better than it was before it went to s#!t, but the car works now.  The motor has 40 years and 110,000 miles on her, but the tires spin with just a part throttle blip now.  Off to the freeway to see if it craps out on the top end like it was before.
