South Australian regulations have never made sense.
How can I drive my Charger LHD here in WA and make any mods I want (within reason of course) yet just over the border in SA, Darkman has to keep his car completely, absolutely and positively original unless he changes to RHD? Then he can do what ever the hell he likes to the car.
Surely the car should be safer in it's originally engineered LHD guise rather than some backyard conversion???? No offense to you personally Darkman, Im just talking in general about converted cars.
So after the car steers from the RH side of the cabin, now the aftermarket wheels, suspension, stereo and paintjob are safer.

:brickwall: :brickwall: This is what I don't understand................it's one country but the laws change from state to state. Too stupid for words.

Darkman

Yes plenty of work ahead....

The plan is to sand blast the underside, paint the underside, finish the structural RHD conversion bits (possibly the dash as well), reassemble the engine, paint the engine bay, and put the undercarriage back in (get it into a roller) all by the end of the year!

Thanks for the offer...I will take you up on that.

Fred, I haven't decided on the colour combo yet. I do know the outside will be black with something "added" to it

Whew, big progress Darko, at least opening up the floor like that gives you good access to the centre rail , we did it on mine when we put the floor patches in , so hard to try to do from underneath later on . Cleaned up the gussets and converted them so they should be sweet as.
Cant believe Ma put so many damn holes/water/dirt traps in that rail  :slap:

Press on  ;)

Vinyl top? with the as yet undisclosed colour  :icon_smile_big:

SA  :eek2:   :brickwall:   :icon_smile_blackeye:  :smilie_help:

I bought an overpriced legally imported and registered car from NSW and I can't register it here in SA because it has a red radio knob instead of a blue one

nvrbdn

seriously they go that far??? a radio knob? :rotz:
70 Dodge Charger 500
70 Duster (Moulin Rouge)
73 Challenger
50 Dodge Pilot House

440

Just about, no modifications to how the car left the factory. No modern stereos, no aftermarket wheels, no chrome engine dress up items etc.

nvrbdn

here in the states people have gone as far as cutting the body off a car behind the drivers seat, made a plywood wall with a piece of plexiglass for a window, and put a wood bed on it to make a truck out of it. as long as there is a bumper and lights on it, its legal. :smilielol:

Says who  :shruggy:  Looks stock to me

That throws the whole thing right out the window for me.

Fred

Oh my God! I can't believe it. S.A. is in Australia isn't it? What the hell is going on with these idiots.
I mean, what's a radio knob let alone colour got to do with safety.
I'm not ever moving to S.A.
Can you paint it blue?

I think 440 was being a tiny bit sarcastic about the radio knob, but SA laws sound draconian from what I've seen and read.
