Tan top - I know what you were trying to say. I have thought about those options too. I may be lucky and get a good inspector who may be a little lenient, but I alsomay get a stickler for the rules. I don't want to take that risk. Also a bit further down the track if I upgrade something, I am at risk of being defected

course yeah never thought of that !! D'oH   :slap:  should you want to do some  modifactions & stuff  , some time later , best to get it done then & out the way  :yesnod:

As far as I have researched and asked it is how that car came off the production line not what options were available. The decision has been made to convert so I ask that the decision is respected. If you don't like it then fine, I understand but please do not keep on me about it (I have already copped enough in previous threads), I do not want this thread to turn into another LHD RHD debate.

Ok, fair enough.
Really looking forward to the pics tho   :yesnod:

Bad news is another Charger leaves Americas shores.  Good news is there are still plenty here and it's going to a new owner that really really loves the car.

I've got mine now in LA - stored in a container for transport to Norway

Well...after a monumental cock up by my freight broker, I almost ended up coming home without my Charger. BUT due the the great help from AQIS (customs/quarantine inspectors) we managed to "bend" a few rules to speed through the quarantine process. The car was not cleaned and was not going to be released (long story), but with some pleading we got it done.

Here she is getting cleaned in quarantine

Here she goes on the trailer after the all clear (FINALLY)

And here she is at her new home

Congratulation! Fantastic! About time! Glad to see she made the journey unscathed! I'm looking forward to seeing her on the roads of Oz (in photos, that is.  :icon_smile_wink:) Nice plates, by the way....  :whistling:

Somebody's going to want those California Black Plates?  :scratchchin:

Nice score.

For what it's worth, I'd much rather see cars going to other countries and owners who care, than see them rot away in backyards or be 'preserved' in dusty old barns until sold off by heirs.

With the internet, I can't tell if your car is in Albuquerque or Adelaide, it looks as good from here.

What is your tow vehicle?..??  :o

I was thinking the same thing. I do not know what you car has in it, but I am surprised it was able to pull it home.

Nice work Darko!

Those Black Cali plates are a nice bit of history for you car - be sure to keep 'em & hang 'em in your garage.

The tow car is a Holden Adventra. Just your average everyday Australian family station wagon, with All-Wheel Drive - and more likely than not powered by the LS1 Gen III V8.  :2thumbs:

Darkman

Yep a 5.7L V8. She pulled the car home with no problems at all!

Well....I have 2 sets of plates, the original black plates and new ones also. I keep hearing to keep them as a momento. The plan was to get some repro black plates made and send off the originals back to whoever wants them the most  ;) we'll just have to wait and see.

This car is in fairly good condition. I knew the roof was stuffed because of the vinyl roof, but the biggest concern is the rust on the upper part of the rear quarter panel! The lower quarters are rock solid (in fact no rust at all below the window line. The front floor pans have holes because the roof has leaked, but the frames, doors all panels and trunk floor are rock solid. Overall I am very pleased and now have to make a "to do" list

Should keep them for yourself mate. They can't actually be used again on another vehicle - so keep them with yours. Who knows, despite ones best laid plans, you may want or need to sell the car in the future, and those plates are a definite bonus to any potential buyer.

Also, if you are one of the lucky ones that manages to keep the car for a few decades, the day will come when you get all nostalgic and may want to return it to original.

I guess all I'm saying is, keep the plates!

Darkman

I'm not going to convert it back to LHD after the RHD conversion  :icon_smile_big:

So the plates will only hang on the garage wall.

Trust me, it's been done plenty of times before. Though most of those times were because the conversion was so dodgy hahaha.

Keep 'em. They'd be nothing more than a novelty to anyone else. But for you they're a part of your cars history. Great conversation piece.

If you absolutely don't care to keep them, I'll take 'em. Shoot me a PM and we can work something out.

Also, you now need one of these - or 2 if you're like me - I picked up a Mopar one and a Challenger one. They were my first purchase after I paid for my Chally  :2thumbs:
