Those look good.  Are you planning on welding those in?  Highly recommended. :2thumbs:

Darkman

Thanks. Yes they will be welded in. The holes in the brackets are so I can weld them in on the frame for added strength

Well, the car is safely tucked away in its new home. I won't be doing any work to it until we move back to Adelaide, but here are some of the most recent photos I have (excuse the quality)

Here is the engine going back together

The car getting loaded up to go home

The car at one of its pitstops

The car all lonely in its new home

I love plenty of space.  Never enough of it though. :2thumbs:

Exactly right..............a garage can never be too big!

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Time to dust both this thread and the Charger off!

Tomorrow I will empty the Charger out of all the bits and pieces that were put in it (and now on it  :'( )for transport. Then the engine will come out to be painted and completely (finally) assembled.

After that, I will strip the body again and try it out on the rotisserie.

Let the fun and games begin  :boogie: :woohoo: :boogie:

Well peeps.....been a while!

Sadly no updates on actual work on the Charger  :'( I have been busy working on the house and getting that sorted out.

However believe it or not I need to pick the colour I am finally going to paint it (even though it is not ready for paint) as I need to plan the rest of the build and it all hinges around the colour!

Well I have boiled it down to the following 3:

1. Holden (GTO) Cosmo Purple

2. Ford (Australia) Viper

3. Skyline Midnight Purple

As you can see very similar, but I am leaning towards the Holden or Nissan colours.....tell me your thoughts!

Good to hear things are moving along again.  I've got to go with the Cosmo purple. It somehow looks meaner than the other two.  :2thumbs:

I will be taking one of the fenders (most likely the dented one) to my friend's crash repairer and get him to spray the 3 colours on the panel, then take it in the light and shade to determine which one will suit what I want. All 3 I really like, but the ford is too light in the shade for what I am after (in comparison to the other 2)

Fred

The Ford is definitely too light.
The skyline looks more metallic than the holden.

JB400

Holden looks more black until you get it in the light, then it shows purple.

The Ford looks like it's chromed purple.

The nissan looks like it has metalflake in it.

Any ideas on what rims you're going with?  It'd help make a better decision on which color to go with, although I'm having a hard time accepting the Ford.  I favor the Holden or the Nissan, depending on rims.

Darkman

The rims are going to be a tough decision.

The firm favorite at the moment are 15" Convo pros.

I think the chrome rims, bumpers and trim will set the colour off well. I agree about the Ford colour. The nissan has metal flake in it which also appeals.

I will get the panel painted up in all 3 colours and see whick looks better

Well please keep us posted.  :2thumbs:
And if you can take a pic of all three colours together, so that we can get a look, that would be good too.

Another vote for the Nissan purple.

Darkman

Just came back from the paint shop and honestly, there is not a lot of difference between the Cosmo Purple (Holden Colour) and Nissan Midnight Purple.

The ford colours are out - too light

Fred, you are right, the Holden colour is taking the lead at the moment

In the shade this is what it looks like

Then when the right light hits it

The nissan may be just too purple

Either way I will be talking to my painter with the options. I am getting samples of both colours and will paint the LH and RH fenders in the respective colours and will also paint over black primer and grey primer to see which gives me a deeper look (then cleared of course).

When this is done, I will post the pictures for you guys to see and vote. I won't tell you which one is what and let you decide based on what it looks like in different light conditions.

This almost reminds me of the Ace hardware commercial.

I don't know which purple you should get, but I think there are a few people that would like GM to make that Storm here in the US :drool5:  It was a rumor for a while.
