I found a '70 charger for sale and was wondering what some might think if it's worth the price (yes pictures are included). It has a 440 in it with an aftermarket 6pack. Vinyl top, 4 speed, bucket seats, one quarter panel needs abit of work, all new floors and truck, needs some interior work, and some TLC. He wants $10,000 Canadian for it and that's as low as I could get him from the $15,000 asking price.

P.S. Of course I would find a new hood and get rid of the gaudy looking scoop.

Ya, I remember the white car and those black wheels some where, maybe the old D-C.com? Unless someone posted a pic of it or another similar car. :-\

Well I'm not sure if it's been posted before. This car sits outside under a crappy cover year round. My dad's cousin who lives not far from the car offered the owner FREE storage in his heated shop but so far the owner just makes excuses  ::)

it looks like it has major rust issues that were covered up at one time.  clearly the quarters.   also under hood. sure, get a new hood but why did it rot out so bad.  also looks like it's starting on pass side rocker.  you can see it in the open door pic.  and is that rust around the screw holes in the sill plates?  plus the fact that it sits outside all year in Canada.

conversely, I love the sixpack and the white/black wheels combo with that top.  something about that looks killer to me....

One quarter is pretty much brand new, only about a year old. The one showing is the one that needs the fixing. The hood rust I think was caused to him cutting the hole in the hood himself and the "scoop" not fitting properly. I personally think that $10,000 is a little much. Like I said though, the floors and the one quarter panel are only a year or two old and a good thing is there is no rust around the rear window or the windshield... although under that vinyl who knows!

I like the intake, 10K is a so-so price and for that amount it shouldn't need extensive bodywork.

That's 10k Canadian so it's a little less than some of you might be thinking.

Drach, did you take a pic of the Fender Tag? I would love get a pic of it. :icon_smile_big:

Looks like a nice car, but sitting outside will change that real soon. :(  Keep on the guy, maybe he'll give in and either sell or at least get it inside that heated garage you mentioned. Good Luck!

Blown70

Well for 10,000 Canadian I say take it.  In a year that price will go up more.

Ohhh, and can I say it.... is that 7500 american.....LOL

VERY SORRY...

70 Charger RT

Drache.  I bought my 70 RT for $5500 CAD back in 2001 in Grand Prarie, AB.  It needed floors, trunk, quarters, fenders, interior, and a lot of other stuff, but it was an RT.  I ended up putting $40 K into it.  I'd say the car you're looking at if it needs all that metal TODAY is worth about $8000.  That being said, they are going up everyday and you would probably get your money back after you fix it up.

Looks like a pretty cool car.   The things that makes me nervous are the slicks on the back and the fact it has a quickie white paint job.

As an old timer told me years ago:   "If it aint right, paint it white!" since white hides so many imperfections.     :-X

Man, with that big open plenum on the intake, I bet it has one hell of a bog off the line...looks cool though.

I think it's worth the price too!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Incase some of you are wondering $10K canadian works out to about $8500 U.S.

I also have word that my half brother's dad has a spare '70 front bumper sitting in his barn. My brother told me that at one time he wanted $150 for it. I'd like to pick this up for a christmas present for my father considering it was the one that was stolen from him when my father was 20.

The story goes that after my dad wrecked his front bumper on his '70 R/T, he bought a new one to replace it back in the late 70's. Anyways he had it on the car in his driveway but not fully bolted on or however. When my dad woke up the next morning it was missing. There was only two other '70 chargers in the same city as where my dad lived and when my dad asked the dodge dealership, he found out that this guy named Dan needed a '70 front bumper for his normal '70 charger. Of course two days after my dad lost his bumper, dan was driving his charger around town with a brand new front bumper that wasn't purchased at the dealership. Then after my dad split with my mother, she married this guy dan although she didn't know about this story since it happened before my parents got together.

Now Dan is selling that bumper off his car all these years later lol.

Burnt70R/T ~ No I forgot to get a closeup of the fender tag info. As you can see though, it is there! I wonder if the buildsheet is under the backseat!  ???

Well it was fun while it lasted lol! No the car's not sold but it's not a 4-speed. I just got word from the owner that I was wrong. If I would have taken a closer look on one of the interior pictures I would have noticed that it didn't have a clutch.

Anyways the owner was wondering if the car was an A/C car or not. Underneath where the radio should be, the car has two vents. He said that on the '70 he used to own, he didn't have those vents and my dad couldn't remember if his had those vents or not. Any insite?

It depends. If you are going to buy the car for a driver or to make it into a show car. By the looks of the 1/4 panel on the car it was not done by a skilfull bodyman.Have a good bodyman check out all the metal work thats been done on the car  before you buy it.Most bodymen do not like fixing someone elses mess. If the metal work was not done right and you have to have someone do it all over again it can get very EXPENSIVE ! Sometimes what looks like a deal may turn out not to be.Use caution.

I might have missed posting it, but the quarter panel you see in the side shot is the one that needs replacing.

Lol it's not sold see? It's just not a 4-speed so I'm not sure how much that effects the price value.
