Power Steering Problems FIXED IT

I just fixed my power steering today, or so I thought.  What seemed to be a simple hose change, turned into having to change the pressure hose inlet and return hose block on the top of the steering box.  I could not get the fitting out of the hole it was in, so i replaced the block with the one off of my '72 Newport.  They appeared to be the same.  I'm having problems with my steering.  The wheel turns by itself in both directions if you barely turn it one way or the other.  The wheel cranks around by itself and locks itself into place, so you have to jerk it back to go straight.  What could be the cause of this?

(I tried to explain it the best I can)

not usre how to correct that , the small housing that you canged has to be centered so it will not turn itself in one direction or the other but to have it di it in both directions !!

Well,I got the fitting out and cleaned up the original block.  Worked like a charm.  I think the valve was a little slow on the one from the Newport.

Hmph. That's the first time I've heard of them doing it in both directions. :ahum:

Glad you were able to fix it, though. :)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
