Hi guys, I need some advice and reckon this is the best place to come to.
I'm looking at buying a '68 440 r/t replica, however, the engine it has is a chrysler 440 from a Jensen Interceptor, mated to a 5 speed manual box.
Is this engine exactly the same as would have been in an original dodge? - and is the 5 speed conversion common - if so what 'box is usually used? I'm a bit worried about the car chewing through clutches an the gearbox.

Thanks for taking the time to read/respond. All replies are very much appreciated.

Yeh Jensen interceptor, built here in the uk around the same time as the charger was in the US, was a aston martin competitor apparently. not really my sort of car, but if it had the dodge 440 engine couldn't have been all bad I guess!

I remember reading an artical about the jensen but the motor was a426 hemi not a 440. It was cool I am sure you are ok.

Got any pics of it? My 68 R/t clone is over in that part of the world. What color is the one you are looking at/
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

lots of threads here over the years on the Jensen Interceptor, the big thing about them was the FF model which was  four wheel drive and highly praised at the time they were quite the ticket.
