Determine factory colors from Window sticker?

Guys

I'm looking at a car that has a window sticker but no build sheet. Can I determine from the window sticker what the exterior/interior colors were when the car was produced? If it's there I apparently can't see the forest for the trees.

Thanks

Yes, you can tell original body & interior color.  Take a look at the picture below (but ignore the markings, as they're from another thread discussing this car).  On the first line underneath the heading "Sales Code" you see
XX29 F5 CRG

Which tells you the car was F5 Medium Green Metallic on the outside, Green Leather (SE package) on the inside.

Hope this helps a bit...

My 67 sticker has exactly that:
XP29 PP1 S6W  -  Charger, Bright Red exterior, Sport Interior-Premium grade vinyl with White/Black interior

Repop window sticker, perhaps?

:shruggy:

Something doesn't smell right to me, anyway.

Yea, I bet you are correct. It looks awfully crisp, clean, and new. The black ink isn't even faded.

Lot's of the wording in the optional item description are incorrect such as W21 Road Wheels.  I've never seen any window sticker with the wording "+ trim rings". The correct wording should also be "styled steel road wheels" instead of "chrome stamped steel" - IIRC.

...also not sure if V8X was ever called a "bumblebee" stripe on the factory window stickers, I'm sure R21 radio was never refered to as a "stereo tape". They were solid state.  :icon_smile_blackeye:

Yes, that's definitely a reproduction sticker.  Great for amusement purposes, but of zero value in terms of documenting a car.

IMHO, if the seller is in any way relying on that window sticker to support what options that car came with, it calls everthing they say into question.

I talked with him on the phone and he mentioned a few things (orig color was green and #s block missing) but he learned all of this from someone who was interested in the car and IIRC was planning on buying it but ended up not. He didn't imply one way or the other about the window sticker, just said he had it and couldn't find the build sheet. So I was trying to figure what was really going on from the info laid before me.

Thanks all!
