Anybody know who owns this car and the paint colour?

Brock Samson

judging by the square plate probably one of our Europiean carpet bagger err,.. friends, and a modern repaint, best you find the owner to ask the color specificly possibly on the post a pic of your charger thread...

Hemidog

I remember that car, I think the owner is Danish.

NGC414

It looks alot like the car on this page which belongs to MikeD: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,64619.300.html

Looks like one of the best looking candy apple paint colors I have seen. I Just wanna take a bite out of it!

I would agree.

This car is from PA and it doesn't have a pass side mirror like the car above, and of course the rims and tires are different but that could have been recently changed

I have this pictures saved at home and I think I wrote down the username. When I get there I'll find out and let you know.

The car is Danish, owned by a guy called Christian. I sent him a PM on another board, linking to this thread..

I found the pic I had saved but there was no username on it because it was a repost by member Birkholm. So I went through a bunch of pages where I thought I had grabbed the pic and found on page 143 of this thread: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,6.3550.html

The car is in Denmark, on the island of Fyn best I can tell. I can't read Danish but you can piece some of the info together from the direct link to it: http://www.bilgalleri.dk/html/gal_visbil.asp?ID=88688&ipc=278409

Originally it was a 318 car but now it's got a 360.

I´m the owner of the car :)

The paint is NOT the popular apple candy red, but it´s a candy color

The apple candy colour it also a cool color, just seen it to many times

I know this car, and has been established, it is not the same one as in the top pick.  The guy got this color from one of his wife's nail polishes.  He even used it to touch up, but I won't tell where.  This pick was taken at the Father's Day Car Show at Reagle Dodge in Pen Argyl, PA.  If you're ever in the area, check it out.  One of the best MoPar only shows around.

Thanks a ton man, really appreciatte the effort!!  I'm doing this car for my son who if you have read my resto thread was very ill few years back.  Thankful to God for hearing our prayers and shocking the doctors with an uncanny improvement in his health.  More or less totally healthy last 14 months!  Being that way, he is putting the heat on to finish the car!!!

Thanks again.

Its most likely because it doubled up on coverage there . Most painters  pant one panel at a time , with some overlap.

If you realy wanted that color I am sure a decent painter could get you that, and not need a paint code number.

Appears to be "Brandy Wine" over a silver base coat. I did my old '67 Vette with that color and a gold base coat years ago and it was a bit darker.

Hey Brock,

You can't shoot candy finishes the same way you might normally paint a car. The color will become darker everytime you overlap a spot. I see it pretty often where a painter shoots a car in sections (Quarter - Door - fender) The Charger is a very long car and frankly... doing candy on a car this long is a hell of an undertaking for anyone. The spraygun gets pretty damn heavy after awhile.

Brock Samson

I'm aware of the extremely tricky nature of translucent paint finishes having used candys for model cars, and i have talked to many painters about them because besides wanting a candy tangerine paint for my sadly departed R.R. i originally want to have the charger done in a dark candy blue before it was painted this current solid blue. anytime you get into these custom mixes or adding color to the clear like I did to mine, it opens up a huge can of worms especially if a fender bender or scratch means the exact finish is supposed to be recreated by another painter maybe years later...
hell the mettalic cranberry pearl on my 300M was tricky enough that I took it to a mercedes shop because they were the only one I trusted to repaint the doors after that brit driving on the wrong side of the road sideswipped my Chrysler, and that was a stock color...
Anyhow, I was just wondering why the painter would obviously overspray the door jambs like that, if it was intentional and/or if the other body panels were done like that, i notice the owner hasn't commented and if I paid a very expensive premium for a super custom color and paintjob like that i would sure be rather upset... I can understand the lost art of fogging on faded candies, none does that anymore like they did up intill the late '70s. sometimes I see it on super trick bikes of funny car bodies even the occasional speed boat, but on cars it's been 30 years since it's been practiced... I was wondering about that panel darkening around the jambs and I know I'm not the only one to catch it... Still I love that particular Charger!  :2thumbs:
By the way, it is spelled "Jambs" isn't it?..
That first car in the thread this is really all about looks rather cinnimon to my eye from the one photo...
far more mettallic then candy...
And I'm glad your boy is doing well Super Dave after all - and that's the really important thing.

You know, all this fuss about the color and I have to say it really doesn't do much for me. I think that car would present any good paint job well with its stance, wheels, etc. I think if it were blue or green it would look just as good.

Looks like the car (other one) was painted one panel at a time instead of the whole side at once. Had mine painted and that's how it turned out,and worse. Now stripping again for another shot with a different body/paint guy.

You know if he doesn't want to tell me the colour, no big deal.  I can get it matched fairly close, don't know why I have to do it the hard way though.  Seems kinda petty not to share the colour though to a guy 10000 miles away.  My son at 18 already says whatever, if the guy wants to be so exclusive, we'll just pick a colour from a chip.  From the mouth of kids wisdom.........

One piece isnt the issue. Its whether they sprayed it one panel at a time or if they sprayed down the whole side at once. if you coat the fender the the door etc. you end up with more coverage at the overlap.

sorry we're so far off topic,..  my fault,.. but wouldn't the correct procedure for a translucent paint be to hang the doors and other body panels and final color paint all the exposed surfaces at once doing the inside surfaces seperately and specially masked to avoid over spray  - which would darken the outside edges?..  :shruggy:

Your right I waited 33 years to get a charger. I had a 1969 hemi Charger back in the day and I sold it what an ass I was. The Charger was the love of my life before my wife came along.  Thank you Mike
