Just watched " Two lane blacktop " for first time in about 25 years.

What a long lost gear head stoner flick.

Daytona and cuda in the begining only,    55 chev -mostly  and  70 gto .

Singer  James Taylor  and  Dennis Wilson  from Beach Boys   play key roles.

Part 1 on youtube worth the time.

It's got that 70's weird movie that's got me hooked.

I liked the original gone in 60 seconds much better. Vanishing point & DMCL too.

Two Lane Blacktop was partially the work of Gary Kurtz, George Lucas's right hand man for Star Wars and Empire Strikes back.  IMHO his influence is sorely missed in the four Star Wars movies after that.

Any movie with Harry Dean Stanton in it is a classic. ;D

From the IMDB reviewer:  The Driver and The Mechanic are two car freaks driving a 1955 Chevy throughout the southwestern U.S. looking for other cars to race. They are totally dedicated to The Car and converse with each other only when necessary. At a gas station, The Driver and The Mechanic, along with a girl who has ingratiated herself into their world, meet G.T.O., a middle-aged man who fabricates stories about his exploits. It is decided to have a race to Washington, D.C., where the winner will get the loser's car. Along the way, the race and the highway metaphorically depict the lives of these contestants as they struggle to their destination.

Is that not the story of all of our lives? :scratchchin:

yep a friend of mine in Wichita Kansas bought both cars from American Graffiti his names Steve Fitch. when i seen the 55 for the first time the sliding glass doors were sitting out side his dads house on Glendale street he was lucky no one stole  them. i was trying my damnedest to get him to put the car back to Two Lane Black Top finish with no luck the 55 would shit an get i rode in it a few times.

From a dialog standpoint, I think Two Lane Blacktop was more technically accurate than any other movie of its type.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
