It was sold, tucked inside an enclosed trailer, then hit by a truck while en route to the new owner.

I guess the seller let it go with his plates still on it?

I doubt it. In the past, I've waited on picking up cars that I bought until I had insurance, registration, title & plates for it. More than likely the new owner did the same since a car that nice was more than a parts car worth a few hundred bucks.

thats really too bad. Not nearly as sad as all the cars totaled in hurricane Katrina. I heard one collector lost about $2 million in his corvette collection.

I guess if the new owner did not have insurance on it yet, he will most likely have to place suit to Dixieply. Looking at the Charger, it really does not look like it's totalled. I think it can be fixed. New fender and door. Cut and weld new rear quarter - who knows, I'm not a auto body guy. It's sad thou! :'(

I am sure he loved that Charger like any other! What is a shame is your attitude towards Mopars!   ::)
That would be like saying if your 69 got totaled a chevy guy would say another one bites the dust!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Even in it's smashed up condition, it's still nicer than anything HLPAG has for sale!

HA! If you read the story, he said the car was on its way the Chicago area. Maybe it was all a Halpg set up :scratchchin:

A serious thought just occured to me........... It wasn't a member here that bought it was it?

No.   He is not a member of this board so far as I know...He currently owns a few Mustangs and I guess was looking to add some class to his herd.   Good guy who was devastated to say the least.     We have spoken every day since and I think I will building the R/T for him in the same trim.   No plans to bring the red one back to life ...It will most likely find its way in to a number of later projects.

TruckDriver

Is the car twisted that bad? It looks very fixable.

The rear valence is thrashed, tail pan, quarters, doors, fenders, roof is badly creased, decklid and probably hood also...not one panel is salvageable. It would take a lot to fix it...I'd say about 200 to 300 hrs in body work alone. So the question is, is the car worth what it would take? Did he insure it for enough? How badly is the frame bent/damaged? Would the car EVER be right again?

I'm not sure it's worth it myself...

Sad sight, I feel bad for the guy....no one deserves that.
Life is a highway...

scoutsr2

car is twisted pretty bad... we won't know for sure until it is on a frame machine...if we had ever found a build sheet or fender tag to prove it was one of the few Pink chargers built or if it were something more than a 500 like a Hemi or a 6 pack then of course it would be fixed but it is not and since all it really had going for it all along was how straight it was, it probabaly will not see the road again.  There are a lot of good pieces though and this car will surely live on through others :yesnod:

blackcharger

so our cars aren't safe inside a trailer. So you might as well enjoy driving them. Probably could've avoided the wreck if it had been under it's own power.Damn shame.
