Helping a friend get his one owner 69RT 440 running after about a 5yr inactive spell.  The RT was running fine before the inactive spell and well cared for. Plan to drain the tank (he didn't use any gas additives), perhaps air out the fuel lines, change oil/filter, new battery.  Should I prime the 440?...other things I should do to improve the chances of a proper awakening?

Once its running, I plan to swap out all the fluids, bleed brakes, etc., before road test.

Drain the tank and replace the fuel filter, change the oil and filter.

Shoot some gas down its throat and let er rip.

Keep an eye on the temp to make sure the thermostat opens.

I would not worry about priming the motor with oil. Presure should come up very soon after she starts.

Also keep an eye out for any leaks/deterioration in the rubber fuel lines too

Also check the vacuum lines and plugs for cracks and splits.
She will still fire but wont run well with vacuum leaks.

Sure is a beautiful car

When you get the top dressed it will look awesome.

stored indoors I assume .
if so, prime the fuel a bit and see if it's starts. once started change the oil and filter , go over all the rubber fuel and brake lines, drive away

stored outside requires a bit more work to asure everything is ok

Great looking Charger! I disagree with not priming it. It only takes 5 minutedsto pull the distributor out, prime it, and reinstall the distributor. Well worth the extra effort in my opinion. It surely won't hurt it.
