The reason I ask is because I think I've seen a half dozen posts from different Swedes in the past few days...
Most seen to have recently shipped over, or be in the process of shipping over - mostly second Gens.
Looks like half the muscle bought these days are going overseas and mostly there...   :shruggy:
Some down under, but you never hear about them going to Denmark or France or Germany or Italy.

Maybe because their economy wasn't dominated by Banks that were lying about their balance sheets and so they are in a better position to survive the financial meltdown that ensued?   :shruggy:

Prices are down, we're still fairly up n' up compared to the dollar (in early 2009 1 USD was worth roughly 9.30 swedish crowns, now it's about 1 to 7) and the number of companies specialized in importing American iron  EXPLODED a few years ago.
And yes, it's a cultural thing I'll leave for somebody else to explain. Suffice to say a muscle car with a lumpy idle still commands respect in the sea of BMW's, Volvos, Skylines and Evo's that seem to dominate the street scene on a friday night, even if 80% of the gear heads don't have a clue as to what it is.

My heap was shipped over in 2007, bounced between owners realizing how much work it was until I saw the ad last summer. Still kicking myself for buying a basket case instead of a good runner... But hey, "it's not what you buy, it's what you build!" :loser:  :brickwall:

Dad owned an ex-police "detectives car" valiant for a while, nothing fancy with the big slant six in it, but still a cool piece of history.

Slightly off-topic, but some of the cars go to Denmark, I know of at least 6 2nd gens imported in the last couple of years..
Does it count if I can see Sweden from the city I live in..? We have only a couple of miles of water between Denmark and Sweden...

I have two friends in Sweden, and visited in 2001. I have to say, that Sweden is the Country closest to the U.S. in culture-at least what I saw of it-much more so than Canada or Germany. I was there for two weeks, and the only person I met who didn't speak English was a Chinese girl at Mongolian Barbeque who spoke only Swedish and Chinese...
One friend put it best; "We love America. You have a great place to start". Meaning, that the current (ten years ago) atmosphere in the US was admirable but improvable. (We did have some debate about how close the US was to what it was intended to be)
A couple things for Americans to ponder;
Sweden produces great cars, bullet trains, military fighter aircraft, nuclear energy and is ecologically enviable.
They have about the same population as Metropolitan Los Angeles.

Sweden is the only Country I've been to, or met people from, that is not Jealous, Envious, or ignorant of the US and our culture.
Just think of them as the 53rd state, behind Puerto Rico and Canada.  :nana:

307 Million, actually-

~10 Million in Los Angeles-

I always champion Sweden because it's the only Country I've experienced outside the US that we can learn a lot from. (that we could use without wholesale change of our culture)
