my gas tank is not in yet so im running out of 5 gallon can for now just to turn it around to work on back side of car when i fired it up for the first time i primed the carb. and it fired right up and seem to run fine {engine only} and when i looked in the fuel filter the fuel was solid in the glass filter what i mean is the filter was full of fuel top to bottom. that was last week now i put the fuel line back in the 5 gallon primed the carb and it fired right up but the fuel in the filter did not seem to fill up just stayed at the bottom of filter maybe a 1/4 of the way full just sort of splashing around in there not filling up completly? it ran for about 45 seconds then it fell off like it was floodling out. this was the second time it was running since i started the restoration how do you get air out of fuel line or does it find it's on level so to speak.

Not related to your above question,,,but more of a saftey "comment".......I would consider getting a different fuel filter.  The glass filters can be a hazard,,,,seen a few break and dump gas on a hot engine,,,,,
I usually run the fram plastic style,,,,,still can see fuel inside,,,but no concern as far as breakage. :Twocents:

As far as running out of fuel...........Maybe you need to check your fuel pump as well,,,,to make sure it's pulling enough fuel/min thru the system for you.  Also might want to check and see if the fuel pump push rod is worn,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
