I found a local 73 Dodge Charger Rallye. She says it runs, doesnt drive. She isnt sure if the correct drivtrain. Looks like a lot of work.  Asking $4500 for it.

I'm not a 3rd Gen expert but that seems about 2x too much for that car.   :Twocents:

I think 45 is a little steep.  That car needs a lot of TLC.  With the way the rust up top looks I'd be willing to bet it needs floor pans/trunk pan and maybe some frame work.  What engine is in it?  I can see it's an automatic car, but the shifter top has been removed for some reason...running is good, not driveable is a little unnerving.  I'd say $2500, maybe $3000 tops, unless it's some rare, super-optioned job....have a vin for it?

No, i dont have the vin yet. I really dont want rust bucket fixer upper. I'll try to get the vin and see what options there are. I would like to have a 73 Rallye, but Im already putting together my 69 Charger and I have a 68 Coronet that needs a little attention. I dont mind paying for a little body work and some paint. But Im not going to replace any part of the sub frame. Thats too much for me to do.

Agreed.  2 grand tops.  That's a LOT of rust.  From the looks of things, you may wind up replacing all the sheet metal on the car.  Who knows what the floor and trunk pans are like.
Most of your life should be "off the record."

well, from what I see... its a 1973 Charger Rallye Coupe, 440/auto car, which makes it 1 of 26 built for the 1973 model year.  that is a double check on the rare and desireable category.

BUT.. still doesnt mean you cannot get it for 2,000 if you ask me.  If you WANT to do a restoration on it.. I would be willing to go as much as $3,000 and feel confident that it would be a wise investment.  But, I do the work on my cars, I do not farm out, so take that into consideration.

good luck!

It says 440 Magnum on the hood.   :scope:

I see a rear window crank making it a hardtop, 1 of 700-something (if truely a 440 car).

Looks like a lot of work. Definitely overpriced.

good thing is she not sitting in high grass so its possible the frame rails are ok. as for the floor grab a screw driver and jack and poke around. from the pics, like everyone else 2k tops but if shes got a 440 and its all original and doesnt need a ton of work I would go a bit higher for sure.

I think the dash light with bezel (as opposed to the light near the map light) came with "deluxe" seat belts or some other interior option package. I've seen a few with it and always think "4-speed" until I investigate further.

Still a cool car and I'd call it between $2-3K.
