K i might have a stupid question. cruising on the bike today i spotted a 3rd gen in the weeds not far off the road! wow! my friends have said im an idiot that it has been there my whole life. about ten miles away in the sticks. not sure what year it is although its a 3rd. i didnt get that good of look at it im working the night shift for the next few weeks so i dont get any daylight to see it real close. is there anything distinctive that goes from year to year? all i know are the 2nd gens could i have me a hella good deal on my hands... and why were at it I've heard of a mint bird hiding in a barn that a farmers kid bought and was killed shortly after. they only went on first names. rumor has it that it came off the show room and like three weeks later he had his accident. they said they thought it was a 69 or 70 rumor also says that people have tried from everywhere to even see it but the family wont move it. its in a place called Promontory in utah has anybody ever run across this story? two farmers have told me about this or is it just a gig to get me running in circles! (they like playing with me) i know of a few barns but theres like only ten people that live out there most farmers from there live in town. its about 40 miles from my place. apparently i dont have a shot at it but it would be neat if anybody else knews of it too.
Restoring a charger is like a saying I heard along time ago "I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it".... Jesus I wish I could remember who said that...

The 3rd gens are split, 71-2 and 73-4.  The 1-2 rear quarter window sweeps up, which gives a much wider "B" pillar when viewed from the side.  The 3-4 rear quarter window sweeps down from the roof line, which is a narrower "B" pillar.  Run a search engine for pics and the difference will be obvious.  The 71-2 differentiate in that the 71 has a side marker bezel and lense, "flush" to the body, and the 72 has a side marker that mounts to the fender and sets out.  Most of the sheetmetal will not interchange between the 1/2 and 3/4, and the 3/4 uses a different front suspension set-up, the upper control arms are carried with the "K" frame.  The 71/2 front upper control arms bolt to the inner fenders.  There are many more differences, but these are the most obvious.  Hope this helps.
