I've been following the many posts to guys out there building Daytona clones and I have to say you guys for being DIYs you guys do some amazing work!  I'm new to the forums and I'm getting much of my information from all of you guys.  My project is just starting now and the body work will be starting within weeks.  I'm going a different route in that I'm building the car to run in the Nevada Silver State Classic.  I'm going to use XV Motorsports front and rear stage 2 suspension.  I'll get some pics posted when the car starts to get torn down.  I know I'm going to need a lot of help out there.  You guys have paved the way for guys like me.  I hope to join in in the festivities one of these days.. Wish me luck!

Great project.
If you don't have the XV stuff already, keep us informed on how long it takes to get it.  :coolgleamA:

Welcome aboard!!
If there is anything I can help you out on let me know.  I own an original hemi C500 and a 68 hemi Charger R/T that I built a 528 hemi for.  I would be happy to offer input on motor combinations.  PM me if you want.

Good Luck with the project, it should be a cool car.

Sounds like a nice combination once it is completed. You will have to keep us informed on what all is progressing on the car.

You going to use dropped spindles to get the nose down low?

I was planning on using coilovers with adjustable spring perches.  Wasn't sure about drop spindles.  I do have to worry about bumpsteer.  I want that rake like the old NASCAR chargers of back in the day.  I might have to compromise if I'm going to drive it in the streets because I also want to build a front spoiler as well.

That's a nice find.. I need a driver's side myself.. Have an NOS grille headlamp pod for a C500, but am missing the other side... I'll have to do what you've done, find a '68 Coronet fender with a usable front headlamp section. The vertical brackets on the inside of each pod should be relatively easy to fabricate.

I did not realize how much easier it would be for me to go this route. I already have 2 '68 grills so Im not doing it for that reason, I just really like the 500 look. The piece that I got bolts rite onto the inner fender in the factory locations and hold the headlights by itself. The other good thing about that is Im going to use fiberglass fenders which have no provisions to mount to the car around the headlight area. I was going to make a lot of aluminum strut rods but now I can just cut the coronet fender piece off and attach my fiberglass stuff
