471_Magnum's new car... not a Charger... not even a Dodge...

... but I think it's pretty cool just the same. ;D

Those of you that know me are well aware that about the only Mopar that comes close to sharing my passion for Chargers are the 71/72 Plymouth B-bodies. I've now just recently purchased my third. Let's hope third time is the charm.

Been a long time coming, but I finally scored myself a 72 N96 car. I've had the car for almost a month now. But I wanted to get the new wheels and tires on it, as well as take care of some other issues before I unveiled it.

Click the image for a larger view.

Sorry about the cheesy driveway pictures. I usually make it a point to get a better back drop, but I was running out of daylight, and there is rain in the forecast for the next few days. Eventually I'll do a proper photo shoot.

Anyway, it's a NOM 340 auto. Bucket seat. It is an original N96 car with the V21/V25 stripes. Restored about seven or eight years ago. It's every bit as straight in person as it appears in the pictures.

Mechanically, it's completely stock, right down to the thermoquad and cast iron manifolds. That'll do for now, but over time you can expect it to see a few changes in that department. Nothing too radical, but a set of TTI headers are already in the works. It desperately needs a 2800 stall converter too, but that won't happen until winter.

Hasn't been driven much by the previous owner, so I'm currently dealing with some minor issues getting it completely road worthy. Been driving it to work every other day just trying to work the bugs out. I am planning to drive it the 260 miles to Columbus next week for Mopar Nationals.

I'm sure the question will get asked, so for those who want to know, they are Centerline Telstars 15x7 & 15x8 with 235-60-15 & 255-60-15 tires. Stock springs and shocks.

If I buy you a beer, can I drive it?

Only if the beer is the good stuff.

Performance-wise, the car is a pooch right now. Spent the last few weeks tweaking on the thermo-bog and I'm just now getting it to the point where it'll except some serious throttle input without tripping over itself. Going to try to get a little more aggressive with the distributor curve next. But as I previously said, it needs more converter. This sucker is TIGHT. Even with 3.55 gears it struggled to squeak the skinny 14" tires.
