Classic Charger Calendar for 2011

I'm gearing up to do another Charger calendar using photos of members' cars and I'm looking for some feedback. Last year I did it through Office Depot and it turned out pretty fair although the photo reproduction quality was a little lacking on their end. Granted, we are not professional photographers and that did play a part in the quality too but I might try going with a different company this time because I felt most of the trouble was on their end. So one thing I want to ask you guys is what are you willing to pay for a calendar? If I recall the calendars last year were around $15 plus shipping and that was about the least expensive rate I could find at a place which allowed me to maintain some measure of control over the process. I think that one day I was in the store for 2 1/2 hours trying to sort through everything and make sure the color corrections and sizing were good. I didn't mind that though because frankly, I find the idea of sending off 12-20 pictures with orders for 20 or so calendars a little scary if there's no personal quality control. Be that as it may, there are some higher quality businesses out there who will likely do a better job but for more money. Shutterfly is one that's been suggested to me and Zazzle is another. Costco also provides this service but I have not taken the time to look up the prices there. Zazzle charges $17.95 each with discounts for multiple orders and Shutterfly charges $19.99 but there's a potential for free shipping. I don't know yet if that means they would ship 20 calendars to 20 different locations but I doubt it.

Also, last time I only did second gen Chargers simply because that's what I wanted and I didn't expect so many people from the site to ask for their own calendars. That said. this year I will be creating an order deadline (TBD) so I don't have to order the calendars peacemeal after they've been created. That was a bit of a pain even though it worked out pretty well in the end. Anyway, back to the different generations. I will be seeking other years besides 68-70 (66-74 only) but the one thing I ask is that your photos be of the best quality possible. The better the input the better the final product. I'd like to get more wing cars especially and I'd like at least one 69 500.

So tell me, do you prefer $15 calendars plus shipping or is up to $20 plus shipping a doable cost?

Dans 68

Bull,

Shutterfly's cost for at least 25 calendar's is $12.96 apiece, including shipping. If you order 50 or more then the cost, including shipping, is $11.00. I've used them many times in the past and the quality is very good. You ship to each recipient from their website so you would need everyone's mailing info, and probably email address (Shutterfly may need it to complete their order and to add to their customer information base). For $12.96 I would get one :yesnod:  (but only if my car is included  :slap:).

I need some good third gen pics and I'd like a nice shot of a '66. I got a pic of a '67 that looks like it will work and of course I've already got two nice '69s and a nice one of a '68. The main thing here is that the lighting be as good as possible and the background is important too. Don't shoot a pic of you car with your wife's Ford minvan in the background or your kid's tricycle or the garden hose, etc. Shots of cars with a nice backdrop are the only ones that will be considered.

Today at some point I'm going to choose and post 12 pics that I've collected off the site and then go about trying to identify each owner for permission, and to also to have the car's year and owner's name and location on the calendar too if they'll let me do that.

I can tell you right now that Chris's '69 (new wheels version) will be one of them as well as Mr. Angry 2, maybe the one shot at an angle prior to it getting all the decals. Brian was going to get me a pic of his Daytona I believe so it looks like two wing cars this time. I have at least one excellent pic of a first gen and a couple third gens too. I might be wanting to use Nacho's beach shot if it works out - looks like it will. So that's six months worth right there. Oh, and Clayton's white '69 makes seven. There will most likely be a couple of '68s, especially one of kcedarwall's car. And I know I have some good '70 pics. Anyway, I'm still trying to sort this all out.

Who knows. Someday I might get real ambitious and print off 10,000 calendars to sell at Borders Books. ;D

I agree with you about the rock but not the framing. It is quite a ways off to the left but it's still the main focus of the pic. IMO that part of it is perfect.

mikepmcs

Nobody asked but i'll give my opinion on a couple pictures.
Chris' car is a no brainer. I'd like to see the car from an angled elevated position with some callout action.   :icon_smile_big:
Mikey's picture is mint with the motion and the whole concept, etc... It's what the car is that makes this one a keeper.
That white car under Mikey's is awesome too.  Wish it wasn't next to a building though.  But still a keeper cause it's just flat good looking.
4th car (kcedar) perfect picture almost(those two metal things on the right are distracting to me)  I'd like to see a little more contrast but that is framed beautifully for the most part.
Birkhom 1 is no question to me. I'd like to have seen a little less cropping on that one to be honest but the front view wins hands down IMHO.
Beeman's is a keeper.
Nacho's is blown out, too much sun and not enough detail in the picture.  So, I agree with him in the regard that this does not show that 3rd generation in the best light if you will. As far as the car being off center, it follows the rule of thirds so in that aspect it's correct to me.  Could be at a better angle though cause it doesn't showcase the lines of the car like it could.
ODZKing's 67' is a good representation for the 1st gen bubbas. Great "Bokeh" in the background keeps the focus on the car.
The green 3rd gen.  Great looking car.  Those blue doors take away from the picture IMHO.  Does the owner have another shot similar about 10 feet forward?
That black and white of the 68 would be good if it had some work done to bring out the different shades of b/w.

These are strictly my opinions and I am in no way trying to offend anyone because your cars are all nicer than mine I'm sure. I'm just giving my opinion merely on my initial thoughts when I saw these pictures.  If I were in a store looking at a calendar, these are the things I would see.

No picture of Jeff's General Lee? I think that would be a great addition to your calendar. He might be under contract by now though.  ;D
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

yes I'm agree with you. I know it was something wrong about the light but didn't know exactly what it was. I was trying to focus more on the sun reflection allong the body side like many pics I have seen. That's the reason to that angle.

I liked the idea out of center so I went for that, but I think it was too much.

It was taken with a pretty much basic $150 Sony Cibershot camera, and I didn't play a lot with the functions. Didn't have time, the sun was going down really fast LOL.

I don't think is a bad pic thought, but not the best as posible to capture every detail. With experience it could be, but was not the case;D
