Have you seen it yet and did you like it or not? I haven't had a chance to see it yet but I want to. Sounds like they followed the books I read as a kid pretty closely from what I hear.

I read the books as  ikid also and they did a great job of sticking to the original storyline. The CGI is pretty incredible!! I've been reading that the top contenders for CGI for 2005 will be King Kong and Narnia. I really do think it's a must see, and I wouldn't miss a chance to see it in the theater.

I'm taking my kids probably next week. They keep asking me to go see it. Maybe after Christmas. Too busy doing Christmas shopping. I heard the special effects were pretty awesome.

Personally I didn't like it at all,.. other then the creatures and the acting by "some" of the kids,..
See, when the lion came out talking like James Bond it ruined it for me,.. and i had another hour of button pushing to endure.
But I didn't read the book so I had no "feelings",.. seemed to me like a postage stamp version of LOTR,..
I'd like to see them do a modern version of Alice In Wonderland. (Another book by C.S. Lewis).
BTW: the 13 yr old girls in front of us loved it though,.. so what do I know?..  :-[

Actually, Lewis Carrol wrote Alice in Wonderland...an acid trip gone bad would be my guess. C.S. Lewis wouldn't write something that warped and contrived... Also, C.S. Lewis knew Tolkien, so maybe that is why they both wrote fantasy epics. As far as the Lion sounding like James Bond?...I didn't get that from it at all. I read the books as a kid and knew what to expect from the story line, so I didn't find talking animals too unsettling...it IS fantasy...

You are correct about the authors Sir. my bad...
you see the blade movie yet?.. (the kung fu one)

ChargerBill

Strat, I can't find it anywhere. I have a friend who is a movie buff looking for it for me...I'll let you know.

Woah! I just about fell out of my chair when Strat said C.S. Lewis wrote "Alice in Wonderland." :icon_smile_shock:

I heard it's one of the best movies of the year.

Haven't seen it yet, but, I loved the books, so I plan on it.  After reading the first book, I got so hooked I finished the entire series of books in around 3 months, I believe.

The final book was a bit unsettling for an 11 year old, I gotta say, though.....
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

liam neeson was the voice of asland (the lion) i believe, or at least it sounded like him when I watched it.

Went on opening day at one thirty.  Kids should have been in school.  Maybe three kids in theater, all adults.  I read the books as a kid.
Some child was making a lot of noise the whole time running along the seats sideways, not the aisles.  The dad was on his palm pilot ignoring the child.  I had to leave half way through, it got on the nerves to much.  Loved what I saw of the movie though, as far as the quality and everything.   Oh well, I will definately go back and see the whole movie.  If there are lots of kids it isn't that bad, all blends together and random noise, but the one kid breaking the silence over and over, jeez.

TripleGreen, thirty preschoolers?   Hat off to you, that's more of a sacrifice than most people could do.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Thanks for the comments...I only have 4 kids of my own. I went with the middleschool youth group at Church. I spend 3 hours with them every Wednesday night. Amazingly they accept me and (some) even seem to like me. I am the oldest kid there my 25 years and that includes the other leaders. The group is a blast.

I was a high school youth leader for eight years, miss it alot.   :-[

I will definitely see the movie soon, I loved the books.  I'd love to see Voyage of the Dawn Treader as a movie as well.  Family Christian Stores has really cool Narnia stuff including a framed map which I picked up.
