Been talking to a guy I worked with that has owned this car for four years. He got it from another guy who was restoring it after 8 years & went thru a divorce so he gave it to the guy I work with for the money he owed him for doing engine/head work.
After him owning it for four years & not doing anything with it he told me to come & get it out of his way. Had to go to (3) different loacations for the car & all of the parts (totally disassembled).
It wasn't free but extremely very cheap in today's market. He told me to come & get it. Need no cash. I can make payments & he doesn't care how long to pay it off (interest free). It was too good of an offer to pass up.
Its only a 318,727, console bucket seat, 8-3/4 car originaly But appears to have been an S.E. possibly???? Seems like 90+% off it is all there, just all apart.
Came with a 440, over $3000 worth of new repro sheet metal, $1500.00 worth of new repro seat covers door panels & headliner.
Last minute deal to pick up. I took it out to my parents barn to store it.
I just don't know what I am going to do with it yet. Restore, street machine, Pro street, Already building a race car too out of my 70' Challenger so don't need another race car. Looks like another father/sons project though.
This hobby is worse than a cocaine habit I think sometimes.......can't ever get enough of it.

I know. Sorry all. Like I mentioned. Last minute deal. Just had to go get it & find a place to store it. I'll get pictures next time I go out there. Its nothing fancy to look at. fron the back window/wheel wells forward its pretty much rust free. The trunk pan & lower rear quarter needs some attention, that is it.

it nos JUST 318, its a 318 with 727... perfect candidate for a 340 or 340, or 340 sixpack. ;D

why allways a 440 ?

A 440 is what it came with. I agree with Maxwellwedge. No replacement for cubic displacement.

Natch- I think the 440 is famous for having super torque, extremely reliable and with so many (re)building possibilities from stock specs. with 375 H.P. to well in excess of 500 HP still with bulletproof reliability, as was said in the muscle car days of old "There is no Replacement for Displacement".
Anyhow, congrats on the score of the '70 I missed what color combo and options (besides the S.E. Package) it's supposed to have or came with, have you sussed that out yet?..   :shruggy:
What Mods if any are you leaning towards?..  :popcrn:

Fender tag is in a bucket or box somewhere I was told. I know he has one because I helped him decode it years ago. It looks to have been T-5 Bronze originally, now painted orange with tan interior & once had a vinyl top (don't remember what color the top was yet). Came with all new black interior so all of the guts are getting changed to black. I am thinking black on the paint too with no door scoops, no stripe, no vinyl top. I miss my old Pro Street cars & still love the look even though today a small tire car is where it is at. Frame rails & all are too good to tub it though, so I don't know what I am going to do with it yet.

You could move the springs in and put some some decent size tires in the back, not sure how big. My Charger is T5 also but that's not what it is getting painted.

Yeah not bad. Seen worse. The quarter's were taken down to bare metal numerous years ago to see what they were up against under the paint. The rusted parts were cut out. Then my buddy from work got it that way but when his dad pulled it out of their barn & out into the elements they surfaced rusted over the last couple of years. I received new quarter's with it anyway, so I'll replace them (someday).

Bring back an older post. I was out at my parents house & took some other pictures of the parts that came with this 70. The 440 block is currently mocked up in my 70' Challenger Drag car project for the front & mid plates. I have been deciding what to do with this car someday. I have accumulated more parts for the resto & also a rotisserie for it as well so far. Can't believe I have had it over two years already.

No, not yet. I went thru the buckets & boxes of parts & haven't been able to find it. The guy I bought it from says he must have it around his house somewhere but he has not been able to find it yet either. I know it does exist. I helped him decode it when he obtained the car from his buddy several years ago. I remember that well because they all thought they were getting a 440 R/T car since it came with a 440. I bummed them out when I told them it was just a 318 car. Makes no differecne to me. Even if we do find the tag the car is never going back to original anyway. I am not a big #'s matching kind of guy. If it looks, runs & sounds good, then it is a cool car to me.
