new "daytona" trucks...

I saw two of them today, both had the rear wings taken off, but the rest of the truck was factory.  is this  a common thing...

the wing is removable,so if you want to use it as a truck.

Charger_Fan

I've seen quite a few of those & the Rumble Bee's running around here.

One orange "Daytona" (that's so sad they used that name for a truck) was full of construction crap & towing an open trailer loaded with cement bags. I guess that one won't be a clean one-owner for long. :icon_smile_tongue:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I bought a go-mango single cab for my wife for her birthday in June. The wing was the big selling point for her.  She gets it out every so often and burns the hides. I drove it last Sunday and was shocked at how fast that thing is. By the time I got to the end of the on ramp I was doing over 100 mph and barely had the pedal down. No wonder she never offers to let me drive it. Makes kind of a nice toy. I think she still prefers her cuda though. The only guys around here that don't like it are the guys that can't afford one for themselves. Everyone has to have their toys.

I bought a yellow '05 Rumble Bee to tow the yellow '66 hemi Charger.  I'm getting the trailer painted to match the truck.  The Bee is a lot of fun to drive.  Try one out.  You'll probably BEE surprised.

I have read that one allready, and am happy for 493Charger to be able to buy what he wants, it was the implying that   people don't like the Daytona truck because they can't afford it.

The Rumble Bee is different since it is a truck package from day one, the Daytona we all know the story on.

I don't like the Daytona as the wing looks ridiculous on a truck and the stripe is a hacked version of the old one. Now the burnt orange color is nice and exclusive to the Daytona.   I asked if I could order a truck like mine that color and the salesman told me only if its a Daytona.

Waaaaaah...more cry babies. The only thing that I like about MONEY is the number of toys it allows me to have.  Money paid for my cars...all 17 of them, it bought my home, it bought both of my shops, it bought my land. People say that money doesn't buy happiness...I don't know about that... I'm pretty happy. Maybe they don't shop where I do.
As for the daytona truck...don't forget, we thought the daytona and superbird looked rediculous when they came out. No one wanted them. I remember driving by a superbird sitting on a lot at a dealership every day on the way to school...no one wanted that rediculous looking thing. They do now. The only Dodge trucks that I like are the special editions. The rest of them look a little bland. I certainly didn't buy the ram daytona to use as a work vehicle. Wouldn't be too practical with that wing. I'll use one of my other trucks when I need to tow or haul stuff. My wife saw it, liked it and called my son at the Dodge dealership and got it at $10,000 off of sticker and got the leather interior thrown in for free. I don't think I over paid. Kind of thought it was a good deal. I sold an old beat up rusted out POS 70 barracuda convertible for more money than this truck cost.
As for using a classic name to sell stuff. This is America, the land of capitalism. When you can't get people to buy the bland stuff, you have to bling them up a little.  Anything goes.
Not real sure why you guys are upset. I don't think it will lower the value of the real daytonas...do you?

Shakey

I have always been taught to believe that money does not buy true happiness however it does make things easier.

I have learned over the years, that the people that usually make negative comments about money, usually don't have any!

Money, sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it!

HAZZARDJOHN

The new Daytona is just an appearance package. I just went on their website because I had no idea bout these things other than my pizza delivery boy has one. If it trips your trigger great! personnaly I think it is goofy, but hey, I have a ford Ranger that I think is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I love my little truck and unless something major happens I don't see me spending the money just for worse gas mileage. Although I am an avid outdoorsman so I need something small and nimble to get into the woods. I think I would catch that wing on some branches ;). Besides I just looked up 0-60 times on a stock ranger and a stock Hemi dodge and I beat it by 2 full seconds.   ;D

On the Hijacked part of this thread: I make more money today than I ever did. And more money than most people my age. I don't apologize for it, because I worked my a$$ off for it. But it didn't buy me happiness. I have a home and I have a brand new truck and a couple of old cars. But they are just things. What makes me a rich man is not the things I own or whether I have more or less than my neighbor. Or even if someone is jealous of what I have. No what makes me rich is my Family! They are what keeps me going. I don't feel it is wrong to have possesions, but when you become an Idolater over them, the question becomes, do you own them? or do they own you?

Just my 2 cents!
Have a great day!

I didn't mean to offend anyone here who bought a Daytona truck with my comments...don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to own any one of those trucks. :yesnod:  I just meant that it kinda sucks that DCX put the name on a truck.

IMO, the Rumble Bee name is a pretty cool play on words from the earlier 'Bee names...and as such, is very fitting for a truck.

None of us really own anything. I think that we're just temporary caretakers. Not too many years from now, someone else will be taking care of our stuff. Someone else will be living in our house and someone else will be driving our mopars. We're not going to live forever. I don't put my material items before my family, quite the opposite. I'm to the age now where this stuff just doesn't impress me any longer really. I just like to have fun.

My dad just bought a leftover 2005 Quad Cab 4x4 Daytona in Go Mango. With the discounts and rebates it cost about the same as a standard quad cab would have cost about 6 months ago. He plans to keep it and has another truck to use for "work".

I don't really think the Daytona package is worth the retail price of $3,600 but, when you can get it heavily discounted it makes a nice truck.

i personaly think ALL NEW DODGE TRUCKS ARE UGLY! what idiot dreamed up the new dakota/durango? i would own one of those ugly litle toyota boxes first (scion or some crap). as for the rumble bee and daytonas, i think they are cool packages. i dont really like the 17s or whatever on a 4x4 that sits so high. if it was a 2wd or at least didnt sit so high with all the extra room in the wheel wells it would look nicer. my girlfriends sister has a 4 door daytona, its not as ugly as the standard pickup.
as for not liking it cuz i cant afford it, that isnt the problem at all, but my personal feelings on late model vehicles is that they cost more than they are worth when a 5 year old truck does the same job and costs about 4-6 payments on your new truck.

hotrod98

I usually buy new vehicles for my everyday use. They're more dependable and it's nice having that warranty. I like the idea of jumping in and heading out across the country without worrying whether I'm going to make it there or not.
But, truthfully, most of my cars are 31 to 36 years old. ;D

:iagree:  A 2500 Daytona diesel would be cool and make more power than a 5.7 Hemi anyday. Although, the wing would have to go on the shelf for my gooseneck trailer to work. One thing that dad found out while buying his is the trailer tow package is not available with the Daytona option. You can take off the rear flare and put a frame hitch on but, they do not come pre wired for electric barke controllers which is lame.

4x4 1500:
Performance ratings (C/D est):
Zero to 60 mph: 8.3-10.5 sec

My 4x4 ranger :

the V-6 punted our 4020-pound Ranger to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds

I guess Can only beat it by .2 seconse, but I still paid 15,000 Less! and I can drive down a hunting trail without having to clear cut it!

Here are the practical reasons I can think of.

1) Want to put a topper on instead.
2) Want to put a toneau cover on instead.
3) Want to put bedrails on instead.
4) Want to use the truck to haul things and do not want to damage the wing or work around it.
5) Don't like how it looks.
