I've heard that a general lee had this and was just curious if this could have been factory or aftermarket?

Vacuum operated trunk release was available in 69..... No cables ( unless a really long one was added)

How many chargers in the registry have it?

Just 6T9 CHGR

No clue as it was an option only noted on the broadcast sheet or window sticker & not on the tag.

You often see (in the original DOH series) the trunk opened without keys.
I believe there was a small switch or cable mounted at the rear of the car to operate the latch remotely, or so I have read anyway. Makes sense though.
Mate of mine has located a switch under the bumper of his Valiant and that operates the solenoid.
Gotta love a '69

Where was the switch located.  Do you have any pictures of the switch (glovebox?) and trunk portion.  I have an NOS setup and want to add it to my 69 Charger.

They added electric releases on the show. One button was on the driver side lower dash, the other was just below the trunk key hole on the taillight panel.

The "E" Series Sales Code Manual lists P45 Power Deck Lid Release as available on all C-bodies, Belvideres and Coronets only, not A-bodies and not Chargers.  Even with the B-body (RW) availability it was listed as a "Limited Option", whatever that means...

Might not have been factory-available on a Charger in '69, but it'd be a cool option to add nonetheless.
