Not sure about the NASCAR thing, but I just read that a lot of chevy guys like and use the A833 in their chevys cuz it's "bullet proof". I had never heard that before..I guess that means all chevys aren't bad. LOL

I have sold more A833s to Chevy and Furd guys than Mopar guys...Yeah, you gotta spend crazy money to get a CLOSE ratio Muncie...ALL Chrysler 833 4 -speeds with the exception of a few off the wall apps, were Close ratio. And Indestructable as well..

I "think" that Chevy used a aluminum 833OD about the same time as Dodge during the gas crunch is their trucks. I have never seen one personally but remember a Chevy forum talking about it.

If the storyteller says it was real early in the '60s, I would raise the  :icon_bs:  flag.  The A833 4-speed first came out in 1964, didn't it?

Alotta Pontiac guys use them when they have motors that really put down the pound.  The GM trans just doesn't hold up the same way. Even the ST10 doesnt take the abuse.  To them, all of the 833's are "Hemi crash boxes".
