Just wondering what the build date and vin# of the last daytona built should be and if it is still alive.
Previously owned Daytona XX29L9B423239 - f8 - white int. - power windows.

As the 69 daytona shipment list has 501 cars. The 1st went to Canada .And the last has the lowest daytona serial number 287###.Which might have been actually a  early daytona as to its very low vin .And as it was Chrysler corp Dale Reekers car. That car was owned by someone I knew Les Bowman.I did hear sometime back on another post and board the car was still outhere but not exactly sure where. But was pm ed asked to to reveal and further info on it.

what was known about that car was discussed in this early origins of a 69 daytona posting on page 2

The highest VIN from the list is 434780, and is shown as having been shipped to Lenox Dodge in Atlanta.  I don't have any info on its current whereabouts, but it is listed on the WW known cars list from 1982 on.  Doug Schellinger might know of its current whereabouts...

Oh yeah- the Schedule Production Date for that car is 6/26...

nascarxx29

I only seen the daytona SPD as 427-612. Havent seen a 6 26 scheduled production date car

There's also two cars with 6/16 dates.  65post's former F8 car would probably have had a 6/16 SPD as well, except for the fact that it was a Canadian car - and all those were assigned a 6/10 SPD.

A tough question to answer.  I will ask some rhetorical questions.

Do we call the last car by the fender tag date, or the Creative shipments list date?

Was the "last" converted car actually finished in sequence with the ship date on the list?

Was the "last" converted car actually loaded on the last hauler load?    We don't know how many cars were in the holding pen at that time.

If there are multiple cars on the last shipment date, how would you prove which one is really the "last" car.

You can get close, but it is not really a simple question.

69_500

To me its like the saying of the first or last Charger 500. To me its all about the lowest VIN and highest VIN. So to me the first Daytona isn't the one sent to Canada but rather the Dale Reeker car seeing as it has a build date in February, but the last shipment date. Then the last one would be the one Gene mentioned with the highest VIN and latest build date.

As far as the 500's there is the question of do you consider the 68 prototype to be the first or the car 110610 to be the first? Then the last well I don't know the last one, but the latest one I have heard of is 248665. But have heard that there was a 248666 car, but I've never seen any information on that car so can't comment.

No, it is not.   I don't have the VIN off the top of my head, but I looked at it the last time I was there, and my recollection is that the number is much lower numerically.
