Funny you should ask. The guy named Mike, who has currently posted a Hemi Cuda for $2.5 million, claims to also own 2 Hemi Cuda convertibles.

FYI: the $2.5M Hemi Cuda has no VIN, no documents, and a fake picture. He says he won't provide any additional info to the general public except that it's in storage at the police station in Dallas TX. (for 40 years apparently).

In the Q&A he says this car is one of seven that he bought at the factory in 1970 and none have ever been driven. Two of the seven are convertibles. His claim.

Is there a registry or list? Not heard of one.

Bill Wiemann(sp?) used to own most of them but I think he sold them?

Last I heard Bill still has his "Bookends" The 1st - 70 Red/Red Magazine and Franklin Mint car, and the last one made - 71 White export (France). He also had various others over the last few years and may still have some of them as well. The Blakes in AZ have a few. There is a black 70 in Ohio. A buddy in Illinois has one. Roger Gibson is finishing one or two up at the moment. There is a yellow 70 in Alberta. I think Kevin Sudham still has one. Harold in Michigan has one as well.

And I'm still trying to figure out why you don't have one Jim. Or do they not go well with the new rash of B bodies? JK. There isn't too many more of the 6-pac convertibles either. Am I wrong in thinking that the Blakes have 4 of them in total? I know they have had the black one with blue interior for a long time as well as the Red one.

A good buddy has the last Hemi Challenger convertible built but has been repelling my offers for years... :'(

I do have an 440 Chally rag I bought from your "Reeker" buddy a few years ago.

Blakes still have the Black/Blue and the Orange/Orange (among others) that came out of Ontario up here. My buddy mentioned above actually trailered it down for the Blakes decades ago.

TT, the red convert has been around for years. It was a Jersey car here for a long time, I remember meeting & speaking with the owner back then in the '80's/early '90's.

I'll make a deal with you Jim. You get one of the HEMI E body converts and I'll finally break down and buy a Daytona. Sounds like a good plan to me. :)
I still need to make a trip north of the boarder to see your cars too Jim. Unfortunately now I have to renew my passport to do that as it expired and I was not quick enough to renew it before the price increase. Oh well such is life right.

Deal!

And - get that passport renewed. Do you need a passport if arriving by car? I know there was some grace time on the car thing but not flying.

I've been reluctant to respond but there is supposed to be one of them right near me.  I know where it is but have never been there to see it.  One of the guys I know at work does paint and body jobs for him and was talking about it.  He has several nice cars and keeps low under to off the radar.  Doesn't even take them to the shows around here. I would like to take a ride over one day to see the cars but if it was true I wound not reveal the location but I could at least verify the story and maybe even take a pic if he let me.  Next time I see my coworker I'll try to make an arrangement to get over next time he's working on the guy's cars.

The problem with owning cool stuff is that everyone else seems to have a better idea about what you should be doing with your stuff than you do. And taking your stuff to shows brings you in contact with the self professed "that's not right", "too bad it's green", "all Hemis should have Danas" etc 'experts'.

I wonder if it's the same car or guy I spoke to in the early to mid 80's also?   :shruggy:

I used to live in the town of New Milford in Bergen County back then & was looking for a rust free Charger body to replace the rot box I had. After months of not finding one, I started looking at all B-Bodies & called someone advertising one. I forget which B-Body he was selling since I called about, or looked at, so many of them, but it may have been the '69 Sox & Martin Road Runner missing it's Hemi. When I spoke to him he said he was selling it to start working on a basket case he found, a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible. He was very excited over the fact it "was one of seven" as everyone thought back then. I thought it was pretty cool since it was so rare, but also thought anyone tackling a basket case in the early 80's was nuts.  :smilielol:

will I get yelled at for saying, in my humble opinion, I don't think they are a very attractive car. I have allways likes the Challenger better, but I've never been a E body guy.

so basically, I don't have any, and even if I was a multi millionair, I wouldn't have any... but I would have a hell of a 69 Charger collection :D

My great uncle has one in his collection.  It has 124 miles on it.  Gorgeous car!
Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

Sadly, no.  While the cars in his collection do get driven, they don't get driven often.  Mostly only on holidays (parades and such).

This link has a few pictures of the cars in his museum.  Currently, I believe the collection is over 300.  I have a bunch of much better pictures.
