Been wanting one since they came out in 08.  With the demise of pontiac and the fact that there is no '10 model, I had a hard time finding one that I liked.  I was pretty picky.  Had to be a GT of course, wanted the sport package, and had to be silver.  Found one I wanted 700 miles away in Detroit.  Distance, money, and time made it seem impossible.  Saw a black one at a local dealer and I guess they thought treating me like a pile of poop would get me to open my wallet.

suffices to say that I'm flying out to Detroit to pick it up saturday and driving it back.  Got a real cheap flight, they took another 500 off the price of the car that we already had agreed on to offset the flight/room, etc..  It's got 16K on it and because it's GM certified, I got 3.94 financing through GMAC, and another 12 months and 12K added to the balance of the bumper to bumper warranty.

Sold my supercharged 99 Grand Prix and they buyer just left in it.  I am so fired up!  360hp, rear wheel drive, 4 doors for the family and in my opinion, really really great styling.  I'm calling it a 4 seater Corvette and of course my friends are calling me an asshole for saying that but it's all good.

I like it!  I would buy that over a 4 door charger anyday.

Go Hogs Go

I sold one new just like that. Only 4 door car I would buy, and looks awesome. We blacked out the windows for my customer and it made it look sinister. Congrats!

No offense but everything these days looks the same to me. At a glance I wouldn't know if it's a Honda, Toyota, Kia, etc.

Seems like a good match up for a Neo-Charger RT... Just like the old days Charger Vs. GTO only it's too bad The Excitement Division is dead and the Pentastar group is owned by Italians...  :shruggy:  :hah:

It's got to be one of the cooler cars GM has built recently...just in time to fold up the tent on Pontiac.

Sideways with smoke billowing out of the wheel wells that are on the correct end of the car you will most certainly know this isn't a Kia.

Yep , very popular over here too and a good car. There is a whole lot of upgrades for the GenIII motor as well available, airbox, headers etc even superchagers , all bolt on stuff and availble in Aussie ex mail order. My bro in law had a GenIII powered comodore ute and had it doing 13.1 with not too much effort .Has got a 06 Senator now rated close to 400hp in stock form
3.94 finance is good value too . enjoy it, well done.

Right. In that case I'd guess BMW or WRX. ;) To be honest, I thought it was a Beemer at first because of the grille.

This car is the cat's ass!  I just got back from driving it 12 hours back to NY from Detroit.  First off, it was everything the salesman said it was.  Car is near perfect.  Aside from the condition of it, it's so much more car that I thought it was.  I can't believe how good it is.  It does everything well. Drives great, looks great, knocked down 23mpg and I was doing between 80 plus most of the way.  If I kept it at 70-75 i bet it would have been even better.  It handles like it's on rails, rides great....comfortable to sit in...  the driving part is easy to see coming.  GM has great engine/transmission combos. Even my old 99 gtp drove very well in that regard..same with my 02 Tahoe.  They just know how to nail that part.  The shocking thing is the interior and ride and feel of the car.  no gaudy crap all over the interior and this thing is so solid riding down the road.

For the price, I can't believe that they didn't sell a ton of these things..maybe it was too cheap?  It really can compete with some much higher priced cars.  plus I never remember seeing ads for them when they made them.   I see 10 a day for bmw and mercedes yet GM must thing people buy cars based on ESP lol...

This whole deal had 10 ways it could have blown up yet it didnt'.  My broinlaw and I flew into detroit last nite at 7pm, the salesman picked us up and drove us 40 minutes to the dealership, got the security guy to let us in and get the car and then to do the paperwork.  I was out of that lot 15 minutes after I got there owning the car.  we went and got a steak dinner, went to a bar for a few beers, crashed at the redroof, woke up at 6 and drove home.  All went perfect, not one hickup..

Anyone who's anywhere near detroit/roseville:  Jim Causely Buick/GMC is a really nice place and Dominic is a really good guy. Tells the truth and does what he says he will do. This car was every bit as good as he told me.

http://jalopnik.com/5589270/maryland-judge-decrees-pontiac-g8-gt-tail-lights-illegal

What a justice system!  :icon_smile_big:

This was his car when he was ticketed....

What does that matter? Do you not see the red reflectors in the back bumper????

The issue is that the judge deemed the car to not have the red reflectors in the rearward direction. Whether the tails are tinted or not, it was said that the problem was the red reflectors not being adequately displayed. However, the judge never considered that the car is still in compliance based on the reflectors placed in the bumper. The tail light assemblies, whether altered or not, are irrelevant! To be in compliance with the mentioned section of the MD code you need to have two red reflectors no less than 15" above the ground. The G8 has them. That's all!

Quoted from the original link I posted: "Because the red area in the lenses is reduced in the G8 GT, there are reflectors mounted in the bumper to reflect additional light and bring the reflective requirements into spec. Th officer and by extension the judge considered them illegal"

So you see the problem is that they are trying to say the taillights don't have the red reflecting feature thus putting the car our of compliance with code . . . but that's IRRELEVANT because the reflectors that put the vehicle into compliance are right there in the rear bumper!

Thats very interesting,

I was just looking at how he said the taillights were stock and how different dealerships said they were stock, not what he was charged with...

I love those G8's...I hope to get one also.    I have a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP   with the 5.3 in it and I love it.   I just dont like all of that power in a front wheel drive car.   Its a fun family car though and I get 28-30 mpg on the freeway with it!
