Does the front end need on the ground to install the pitman arm?

The directions from the Mopar Action link has the front tires off the ground on the tear down, but doesn't say if it needs off the ground for the install of the pitman arm. I ask as it would make things easier since the tires couldn't move if on the ground. However I am not sure if it could put something in a bind. Whats the proper way to do this? Plenty about pitman arms and PS to MS on here but the basics seems overlooked.

Put it up on a set of jack stands so it won't fall and go after it. Where the pitman arm goes through the center link  rap the center link hard 3 or4 times with a hammer and it should come off with out a problem. Worst case you might have to use a tie rod splitter to separate it. :2thumbs:

Thanks

I got the old pitman off and am ready to install the new one. My question is can I drop the front end back on the ground for reassembly or does it need to be off the ground till the pitman arm is reattached to suspension?
