Saw this just a few minutes ago on my way back from lunch. Dodge van converted into a pick up, which isn't all that egregious in and of itself...but the mid 90's Chevy truck bed is. Don't even wanna know what kinda engine it's got (a Ford 5.0?)

Sort of an early homemade Avalanche/Ridgeline. :shruggy: Give them credit for execution on the idea. Thumbs down on using the Chevy bed, should have been an old Power Wagon bed.

lol at the "homemade Avalanche" comment...i thought the same thing too (wife has an Avy...I hate it with a passion).

So I texted this pic to my buddy and hes saying that Dodge actually made some sort of van/pickup hybrid like that?

GPULLER

We had horses growing up, my parents got the "Quarter Horse Journal" it was the whose who of the Quarter Horse breed....anyway I remember advertisements in that mag for Western Hauler, they customized those for pulling trailers in the late 70's early 80's.  As I recall they used the Dodge dually fenders.  This one Ponch saw looks to have the "aero package", with the aerodynamic GM fender flares.

I have seen a number of Ford Econoline trucks like that, but that is the first dodge I have seen.

Todd Wilson

Theres been a few of those old Mopar vans around here like that. Dually and a bed or a custom flatbed setup to pull a gooseneck or 5th wheel. One guy in town now has a straight flatbed on his.

Was marmala's cafe any good?  what'd you have?

It's Marmalade. I actually didn't go there this time...I went to the much more mundane and cheap Costco Food Court. But I have been there. It's ok for breakfast or brunch, but a little pricey for my taste. Their blueberry pancakes =  :drool5:

That van/truck is only $64.99?  what a deal!   :icon_smile_big:

I drove by again today during lunch (didn't go to Costco today, but my destination took me by the truck again):

Like Todd said it was probably made to tow a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer. It's not uncommon for horse people to drag horses around to competitions that last a couple days so the people use the van portion for sleeping.

I get that it's kinda cool and interesting...but I still don't get why they had to use a Chevy bed.

It would too hot imo. I'll sleep under the stars or get a tent.

Highbanked Hauler

I've seen a couple of them, one at Carlisle years ago and that one didn't have a chev bed but it did have a 440 & torqueflight combination . This one had to be changed along the way. :Twocents:

If there's enough redneck in the owner he'd just take out that side window and install and A/C unit there. Run an extension cord to the barn or buy a generator and you'll sleep like a baby. :2thumbs:
