RECHRGD's bad day at the car show

Yesterday I went to a large car show at the county fairgrounds.  Shortly after parking the Charger on a nice open grass field, I noticed a '56 ford with a little old lady driving it approaching the wide open space next to my car.  There was nobody else parked next to me on the left and it was a real easy shot to park there.  As she got closer, I noticed she was not turning her wheel enough to get parallel to me.  She just kept coming straight towards my car.  When she was about 6' away I started yelling at her to stop, but it was like nobody was home.  Others started yelling also, but to no avail.  She just kept coming until the CRUNCH into my left quarter panel.  The damage isn't huge but it's still going to be a pain to deal with.  She has Grundys insurance, but would rather just cash me out if the amount doesn't get out of hand.  I've seen her around for years at various shows and she's a member of the local Ford club, so I'm not worried about payment, unless she dies first (she's 82).  She had also sideswiped some kind of road barrier on the way to the show, leaving white paint streaks down the right side of her car.  It is definitely time for this lady to get off the road and she now realizes that fact.  I did feel sorry for her when she was apologizing and saying that this would be her last car show.  However, I wish the show before this one would have been her last.   Bob

I didn't have a camara with me, but I had a guy there take a bunch and he's going to E-mail them to me.  It may be a few days though.  Bob

If I ever get my junk done it's going to drive by the shows as I have heard too many negatives. Sorry to hear someones great grandma swiped your Charger, did you punch her in the mouth?

  Sorry about that, Bob. My wife used to work for a lady that was allowed to drive around and yet couldn't even find her own car after grocery shopping. Finally they took her keys away.

Let the insurance take care of it.
If its her last car show then she won't be needing insurance after this incident.

I would also have a police report done and file a incident report with the DMV.

If she hit something on the way to the show she probably didn't stop and report it.

Before anyone jumps on my shit, I love old ladies. It's just that they can be a danger to themselves and others in a car. What a way to ruin a nice day at a show.

Please report it to the PD and make sure she gets off the road (grass too).

And before anyone goes PC on me, it hurts a lot to see the day come when our elders lose the privilege to drive. My heart is still broken from the day that I had to take my dad's license away. Rest his soul. But it has to be done, so please report this before somebody(s) get hurt.

Hope you get the Charger on the road soon with no difficulties.

Sorry to hear that Bob. I had a guy back into me at a gas station once. Two pumps one in front of the other. He was driving a pickup truck, no canopy or anything. He pulls in, I pull in behind him thinking he'll go to the farthest one. As I'm waiting for him to pull forward, he stops, shifts into reverse, puts his arm on the passenger seat and looks out the back window starts backing towards me. By the time I realized he didn't see my car even though he was looking right at me, I had it in reverse and was trying to back up, but got crunched anyway. That was in the '74 Swinger. I feel your pain!

Sorry to hear that. I remember reading your posts about the difficulties you had with your GV unit and you gladly could start having fun with the car since you fixed that issue and the this happens.
Hope you can settle with the insurance quickly.

I know alot of 30 year old ones that are already a danger to others and themselves, in fact they always were and probably always will be......
