Anyone got a good link or advise on pulling some timing out of my new Mopar Performance distributor's mechanical advance? I have the general idea but wonder if it needs to be "benched" or can it be done mounted on the 440? How tuff is removing the recluder off the shaft to get down to the advance adjustment plate?  :shruggy:

best to adjust off engine. then test on engine. it'll change a bit if you set it on a machine then put it on an engine. takes awhile but will be worth it

I'd be doing it on the "kitchen table"....not a dizzy machine. I'm thinking of just sending it to FBO to be reworked but hate the risk and down time.

you can prise the reculator off the shaft with one flat blade screw driver either side & prise gentaly , be carefull though , best way is to use a small puller , or a battery cable terminal puller , the reculator is not on there tight , becarefull you don't lose the roll pin  thats between the reculator & shaft :yesnod:

Now I need to find a brass feeler gauge too!  :scratchchin: Sure is running strong with the FBO A688 kit in there. (Finally rid of that big fat yellow super coil!)

15 years of looking at that big old honking yellow coil!  :eek2: It worked so I kept using it. (It came with the car, left over from drag race days)
