Well its finally time to get the charger insured so Im looking for any advice/recommendations you guys have. I have no idea what companies to look into or what to ask for.
From previous searches on here I believe I should be looking to get an "agreed upon" value correct? Anything else I should be aware of???

Finn,

I've had my cars insured with Hagerty's and have been very happy with them and the cost. Grundy's is another option for classic cars. When we bought our 69 we set an "agreed upon" value with Hagerty based on what we paid for it, the car itself(high dollar/low dollar car) and its condition. Some times they want pictures of the car, including VIN plate, to verify the info you give them. They required pictures when I insured a Chevelle through them but not on the Charger. Don't know what's up with that..........maybe a repeat customer? I dunno. Good luck.

hagerty seems to be the best and everyone likes them but if you dont have your car in the garage at all times they will not insure you. I also made a mistake by telling them I drive mine at least 3 times a week, and they did not like that. They say unlimited mileage but they do not want you to drive your car for normal daily driving. Just make sure whoever you go with has the agreed value and has some knowledge of older car values and repairs. I have mine insured with AAA and they seem ok but I'm always worried they will try and screw me over if anything bad happens. Soon as I can leave mine in the garage at all times I will switch over to hagerty and tell them I only drive it once in a while.

Finn, you're in CA so add American Collectors to the list of companies to quote. I believe you can do it right on-line and then contact an agent.

They are quite unrestricted in what they use as the definition of stock and modified cars. (Stock being a lot less costly to insure than modified). My Road Runner is highly modified, but they catalogued it as stock (after examining numerous pictures, taking a statement, and an inventory list). They do cap the declared value at $60k, you need an appraisal to insure for a greater amount.

They were the best deal of the top insurers for me, easily beat Hagerty, and still a quality and reputable company.
