I've been giving bull some bull lately but it is all in fun, however I have seen some nasty statements from others. So can we have ONE post where we go to "have at it" with each other?

Also some people here are having trouble expressing themselves without swearing. Yes most of us are adults and are old enough to curse, but it makes the site trashy.

I have used a few words but will refrain from it as I want people to leave this site with a good opinion, not that we are a bunch of Criss Rock wannabes.

This seems to increase during the winter months. It has been a trend on several boards  for 4 or more years. With the disappearnace of the good driving weather, so too goes the good moods.  Shame but it seems to ring true.

I could do without the swear words myself on the site, don't get me wrong though! I can spew them out with the best of them! But there's a place for it, it's just not here. :P Every now and then my 10 year old will come behind me while surfing...........'Daddy.........whats F*** mean?' :o

:iagree: TOTALLY!!!

I use the "F" word on a normal basis all the time. BUT it is not for a puplic forum like this. This is a all ages place and we all know it.

Every board is going to have a certain number of members that think the anonymity of the keyboards gives them the power to be rude to other members. Of course some people are just born that way. I tend to ignore the comments made by these members and just chalk it up to them being drunk or never taught any proper manners by their parents.
As for the swearing, I'm a contractor so I hear and speak it all day long, however I turn off my foul mouth when i walk through my front door.
Maybe some of the members can't type any words that contain more than four letters. :P

Uh yes! I dont like you!    :icon_smile_big:

ON a serious note years ago I ran a big BBS system. For those that dont remember the old days of telecomunications BEFORE the internet someone ran a BBS system. A computer with an online world so to speak in it and it answered a phone line or lines  depending on size and you logged in with a name and password. You could send email and post messages much like we can here and play online games and swap files. A very fun era in the computer world.

Anyways I had such a message area on my old BBS. It was rather fun but it did lead to some nasty message threads and lots of people got mad and or hurt over it. To make it short  Troy and the mods will start to get tons of emails with people crying over being picked on or not approving. We will then have some members leave the site. And some will be mad and carry it with them and sooner or later most will meet up at a car show where the forum problems will carry over at the show.  Bottom line here is the Chargers. The operation of the site here will be come overwelmed with no other way to put it..............BS! We will waste space and bandwidth and the mods time will not be focused on the internals of running the site and there are many things to do from the inside.

The good thing about this forum right now is it is somewhat relaxed. It lets us talk about the Chargers and also about other things. Everyone has their own ideas and opinions on things. For the most part the users online here police themselves.   The Mods dont usually have to step in and thats the great thing. Other sites on the net have a rough and tough policy on things and I feel it takes the fun out of it.

While such an area would be fun I dont think it would be in the best interest of the site here to do it.

Is there any dislike? Are there misuse of 4 letter words?  :smilielol:

It's very obvious with a handful of members, but on a personal level it doesn't bother me. That doesn't mean I condone it, but I also don't lose sleep over it. I'm from NYC, have worked in construction & still do, have seen & heard things that are pretty bizarre, & find people like Chris Rock hysterically funny. Do I use "foul" language? Yes. But I also know there is a time, place & need for it, or lack of need in most cases. This site is shared by adults & minors so I would say anything more than a reference to certain words is out of place.

I have a 6 year old daughter & go out of my way to stay conscious of what words come out of my mouth when she's around. I also don't hide those things from her either, & have a good example. The latest Nine Inch Nails album is one of her favorites. For the longest time, I didn't play it when she's around because several songs have the infamous "F" word, as well as the fancy replacement word for a bowel movement that begins with "S". I had the CD in my truck & would skip over those songs so I didn't have her hear the words.

One trip I had forgot to hit the skip button & she got to hear the song "Only" with a chorus containing the "F" word. I was hoping she didn't catch it, but oops. The next thing she said was "Daddy, he said the "F" word in that song." There was no way to avoid it, so I explained to her why she heard it on the CD & that she won't hear it on the radio or the video because of censorship. I didn't get into details like the FCC, but I told her that some people use words like that to express something they want to say. Like in the case of the song, he was angry & that was the word he chose to use.

She said she likes the song & her idea to deal with it, was to create a substitute word so she can sing to it. I felt pretty good knowing she came up with her own idea about it instead of me censoring what she hears. I don't go out of my way to put her in situations where those words will be used, but it does happen. No matter how much I'd ever try to shield her from it, she'll hear & see worse when she gets into higher grades at school. In my opinion, classmates & other kids her age are far worse than a song with the "F" word in it.

As for members who dislike one another, it's no different than having a coworker you wouldn't mind seeing fired, a neighbor you would love to see sell their house, or even some other nimrod you can't stand disappear from your life. They exist, but the people with a thinner skin seem to get fired up too easy & should start to worry less about them. If there's someone I find who's more irritating than a hot iron pressed against your ass cheek, I usually don't read their post & go onto the next one.

Like when Greenpigs has something to say.  :D

What are you talking about? I love everyone and everyone loves me. :icon_smile_kisses:

Seriously, I do like to debate, even argue certain topics and give people a hard time once in a while in fun but I'm not a cusser either on the web or at work or home. And I don't hold any grudges or dislike anyone here despite what some people might think. If someone rubs me the wrong way I usually let them know but it's not like I wish pestilence upon them. Part of my problem with message boards is trying to figure out if someone is serious or joking. I tend to think that even when they make certain comments with a smiley there's a lot more honesty there than they'd ever admit to. That's why I try to avoid ambiguity when making certain statements and be straight forward -- which gets me in trouble sometimes. But I think most people know how I think on certain issues because I write what I think. I typically reserve profanity for extreme situations and it's usually not done intentionally. When people who know me hear me swear they know it's a serious situation because it happens so rarely. I just think cussing really dumbs down the English language and makes the speaker appear ignorant. I'm not saying people who cuss are ignorant, just that it creates a sterotypical assumption of that.

Todd,   I remember the BBS era very well.   I ran PC GARDEN BBS for 5 years.   Had 3 phone lines, three IBM 8580 computers, and a satelitte FIDO feed going into one of the computers, along with the files that was sent over the satellite.   That was back when a meg of hard drive space was a permium.   I had SCSI hard drives and had 9 gig of hard drive space, with tape backup.   (That was when DOS ruled the scene)   When someone stepped out of line, and failed to heed the warning to knock it off, they became history to the rest of the users. In 1997, I shut the BBS down due to the Internet taking over the Forum scene.

Same here, I can turn it on & off easily. This board has always been one that I try to refrain from swearing on, mainly because of the overall atmosphere & knowing that some members have youngsters peeking over their shoulders sometimes. I lump my avatar usage into the same thinking...I use chickie avatars on boards where I'm fairly sure kids aren't hanging out. ;D

As far as some members disliking others, I think that's fairly low here, overall. Plenty of folks here have been at odds over one topic or another, sometimes degrading to outright flame wars...but for the most part, those people have been able to shake hands in the end & be friends. That reason alone is why this board is a much better place to hang out than some of those other places. :yesnod:
I enjoy at least 95% of the members here in one way or another, and the remaining 5% I can tolerate without feeling I need to slam them on a daily basis. :icon_smile_big: Overall, we've got a great group on this site & I'm glad I'm part of it.

Oh & Piggy, there's only 2 e's in members. :nana:

so what...?

I find this topic rather dumb.. Just turn on the TV and youll hear more bad language than youll ever find here.. This site is an "adult" site. Yes, kids may come in here to check out pics of Chargers, but I dont feel that has anything to do with what kinda language we use in posts. If kids parrents dont think the language used in this forum is ok for kids to read, well dont let the kids come in here. This forum is not for kids anyways...

.. and about disliking some members... -Piggy you suck!! :D
