Sold the Challenger... back in market... maybe

So I sent the Challenger off to its new home yesterday. It was a great car, but not what I wanted. I took it in trade for my Cuda project with the intent of enjoying it for a few months before flipping it. There was some hope that it would grow on me to the point I'd want to hang onto it long term. After knocking around with it this spring, and ultimately driving it almost 3000 miles on the Hot Rod Power Tour, the bond had yet to form, so I decided to let it go.

Not sure what I'm going to do now. I could dump all the proceeds from the sale into another car (or two), or I could go get right with my banker (what fun would that be). 

I've even toyed with the though of finding a non-Mopar toy (gasp). 

The recent addition of my second child and the associated expenses further complicates the decision process.

So there are definitely a few Mopars currently out on the market that interest me. I'm still like to have a nice 71/72 Roadrunner Air Grabber car. I've also got some unfinished business with the Cuda model.

Having owned two second generation Chargers though, I feel I can scratch them off my bucket list. Pretty sure I couldn't afford a nice enough one to satisfy my taste anyway. I think the same could be said for 71 GTXs. I liked the Challenger, but not enough to want another this soon. No real interest in A-bodies either.

Anyway, I'll keep everybody posted on the decision making progress.

boy, you go through some cars dont you?   I have a serious question for you.  Do you go through these many cars because you enjoy the "chase" to find them and restore them and then you get bored with them?  OR Do you go through so many cars because you just do?

It's because he's a perfectionist who wants a driver and he can really
only keep one car at a time.  It's his curse to be constantly torn between these two extremes.

I could go through every car I've bought and sold the last four years giving a perfectly plausible explanation for each transaction, but I'll spare you. Bottom line is that I'm somewhat fickle. But the last two transactions were no brainers.

Bought the Cuda project before I had any idea child number two would be entering the picture. Once he did, I knew the Cuda wouldn't fit the family lifestyle. There was simply no way I was going to have the time and finances to finish it to my satisfaction. I couldn't bare to see it sit in the garage any longer. Too much money tied up in garage furniture.

The Challenger was simply a way to get out of the Cuda. There just weren't any good cash offers on the project car, so I opened up the trade option in hopes of getting something more marketable. As a bonus, I got something I could actually drive in the interim. Like a said, great car, but not what I really wanted.

So selling the Challenger was part of a bigger plan. What the next step in that bigger plan is, I'm not quite sure. Whatever it is, it will be something I can drive and enjoy immediately upon purchase. I really want it to be a long term keeper.

All that being said, I've been a very good customer at the BMV over the last four years. We won't even get into my daily transportation.

471,I can relate,bought my 09 Challenger R/T  3/09,and let it go in 9/09 with only 1,900 miles.I agree,awesome car,but barely had the time to use it,have a job that I cannot take this thing to work,and had to decide wether it was a long term keeper at that point as every year that would roll on with it ,it will be depeciating quickly,and then it would be to late,so off it goes.
I would rather have old garage furniture that will at least retain its value if sitting around is what it is going to do.Nice taste in your choice for a next ride,thats exactly what I wanted,71,72 RR or GTX.I did search for awhile for a nice ,done/driving one,no luck,and as I prefer doing cars myself, a project is what it wouild be.
Doing a search one day,found one that I could not pass up not being to far from me.A 72 Roadrunner GTX,440,auto,B5 blue,white canopy top,white strobe,white int,fact air grabber,all matching numbers,BS,and orig window sticker,runs and drives but is a resto project.

Yeah. Already looked into that 'Runner. Definitely on my radar screen. Sure like to find something closer to home though. Between the trip to go get the Challenger, and the Power Tour, I've covered a LOT for this hobby. Additionally, the wife has forbidden any further use of vacation days towards the car hobby (with the exception of Mopar Nats) for the rest of the year. Gotta keep the peace.

I  know where a 73 charger is that has a 400 just needs floors! an ex friend of mine was going to buy it but pulled out at the last second bc he feels hes really a..... I cant believe I am about to say this.... hes a toyota guy..wtf... gave up a real car for jap trash...
