Does a 70 Charger have left hand wheel studs on the drivers side?

I know that the 69 Charger had left hand thread wheel studs on the drivers side.

Did the 70 model also have them?

Sometimes people would swap them out for right-hand ones, because it would get confusing. Also, garages, not always knowing this, would snap the studs off thinking that they were all right-hand threads. For example, I had my 69 in for inspection a couple months ago, and the first thing the guy taking the wheels off did was snap off a stud with the airgun. I completely forgot to tell him about it, and he just didnt know. Luckily I was standing there, and stopped him before he went any further.

My '68, both '69s and my '70 Chargers all have left hand threads on the driver's side.

My 71 and '72 Imperials do not.

My '72 Chargers do not.

My '65 Plymouth Fury has them.

My 1940 Plymouth I had years ago had left hand threads on the driver's side.

So, it goes back a LONG way.

1970 was the last year with left hand threads on the driver's side.

My 68 ain't got em, maybe someone replaced them.
My 69 got them, got rid of them.

All my 68 Chargers have them and one of my 70 Challengers has them but the other does not. However, I'm sure the one that does not isn't stock and has modern brakes.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

There is a thread about this on another Forum (can't remember which). It was proven in tests that if the lug nuts were left loose, they would be less likely to loosen more during forward rotation than r/h thread. If I remember correctly, they would actually get slightly tighter.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

Very True...I can testify on fairly loose lugs nuts comming off my rims (they never got tighten down)....Almost lost a left front wheel in just 2 short miles..Only one lug nut kept me from wrecking my 72 Charger.

If you drive backwards  :smilielol: the Right one also would be tighter  :scratchchin:

There was a member here a while back who couldn't get the RF lug nuts off his 68 Charger but the LF came off fine. I asked him if the LF nuts came off left-handed or right-handed and when he said they came off right-handed I told him to try turning his RF lug nuts the "wrong" way and see if they'll come off. Turns out a previous owner had mixed up the two front hubs so that the left hand lug nuts were on the passenger side. :eek2:

LH is where the thumb is right side :scratchchin:
So lh would be on the rh if rh should be on lh but if the lh has changed to rh then the lh wouldnt be over one the rh side.
Thats Scary

I actually did that myself. Very annoying but I guess I should have known. Swap those babies out, it's a lot more convenient.  :Twocents:
