I got am email this AM from a coworker. He found a 35,000 mile 73 Charger SE for sale. It looks mint in the pictures. It is a 318 auto on the column. It is light green with a green bench seat interior.  The original owner's grandson is selling it. He is asking $8000. I think it is a little high, but I don't follow the prices for 3rd generation Chargers.
So all you third gen experts, give me your opinions.
Thanks.

I couldn't post the pictures. I guess they are too large. How do I resize them?

Sounds a bit pricey to me for a green on green 73, 318 car, in the current market, but it does have low-miles going for it. Of course, pics would help. I always resize mine in Photoshop.

I'd guess that level of originality and upkeep will have a big impact on price on this car, especially if everything is in good working order.

But again, it's a green on green 318 car. Depending on just how nice it is, $8K might sound high for someone not that interested in it but not be that far off for a well-maintained and highly original car.  :shruggy:

lisiecki1

not really helpful I'm sure, but I bought the exact same car, but with a repaint to grey, 13 years ago for $1500.....I would think 5-6K would be closer to the correct price in this market, if it's super, super, super clean....without seeing it, that is.
Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

I think lisiecki1 pretty well nailed it. If he gets a 5-6k offer he better take it and run.

Thats a very good price for a low mile 73. I've turned down twice that for my 49,000 mile 73 SE

I gave $1900 for a one owner 73 Rallye with 47,000 miles on it. Needed a little work becaues it had been sitting since 1991.

looks like 135k miles too
What makes you say it is 135,000 miles? I think the car looks pretty good. I was told by my coworker that it was garaged since new and never driven in the winter.

I didn't notice the cracked dash pad. I didn't personally see the car. My coworker said the car was really nice. I was assuming it was all original.

Alcusswhen, Is your SE a 318 auto car? I am trying to get an idea of a value of this car. I may be interested in buying it.

Cracked dash pad and discolored bumper fillers don't mean it's 135k. Mine has a cracked dash pad in just about the same exact place, and my bumper fillers are discolored too.

the number 3 (for the 35,000) isnt straight, mean it was tripped before. thats by design

Tilar

If the numbers are not straight it means someone has changed the mileage and didn't get the tabs ligned up but they would be farther off than what that 3 is. It's not something that was done by design, at least not intentional design. You also have to realise that cars built that long ago didn't have very close tolerances.

Speedometers with tamper resistant mechanisms didn't come into play until the mid 80's or so.
