Ok, this is my first motor build. It started as a sucker deal for me, bought a blown head gasket motor that he had been driving w leak stop. So now it is being bored .040 over(383 Magnum), hot tanked, and a fresh coat of orange.

I am putting a double roller timing chain and Mopar Perf Purple cam. .284/.484 in it. I have been doing research and have some time and am a little confused/ concerned about pushrod length. Do I need new pushrods, or will the stock pushrod work.

Or will it be a case by case issue and I need to buy the comp cams adjustable pushrod checking tool.

Also I have a new timing chain cover, torque convertorand will have new pistons to go with the build. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of any musts please let me know.

Take care

The stock pushrods will work fine but i would rething your cam selection.....unless you want to run a 3500 stall and 3.91 gears.  :Twocents:

I have gone with the suggestions of a local mopar builder, how do I find the gear ration for what is installed currently, I already have the torque convertor. My guess for the Gears is strength and torque. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

What gears are you running and what do you want to do with the car?

Go with whatever cam Ron recommends  :2thumbs:

I had the 284/484 cam in a 383 Challenger R/T and it was a PIG on the street. I ended up getting rid of the it due to very poor low speed performance.
