Well, after reading all the warnings about cam lobe failures in initial start-up, I've decided to start the engine with low pressure valve springs, all the proper additives and oil and keep the RPMs under 3000 during the half hour run.

Does anyone have an inexpensive solution for the springs?
It's a mild 440 with 906 heads. Would removing the flat-wound inner damper work?

Thanks, Joe

Removing the dampers should do just fine Joe.... Slowly varying your rpm's between 2000 - 3000 will help to promote lifter spin as well.

Thanks Musicman, I appreciate the help! :2thumbs:

Most of the cams come with instructions.  I think when I did mine, 1500 RPM is what they instructed.  We also took out the center spring to ease everything and used the lube.
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .
