Why is it that as of lately I been getting alot of time out's for on this site?  :brickwall: :brickwall:

I mean I can click on a forum name and my computer just goes into like stand by waiting for the site to respond back to it. Today I timed it for 5 minutes stright and it was still waiting! I had to reboot my system and yet the same thing happen when I came back to the site. I been having this issue the last few days on here. The other sites I have no issue with at all but for this one recently.

4cruzin

That actually sounds like it could be a problem on your end.   :scratchchin:  How do you access the internet?  Do you have high speed or dialup?  Are you wireless or directly connected?  Is it just this site?   :shruggy:
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

I have Eather Link, High Speed, non-wireless, always directed connect. The other sites I have no problem on at all.

MoparManJim

It just happen about 5 minutes ago again.

MoparManJim

That does it  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

Every dang time I try to come onto this site I get a dang time out! I can go anywhere else on the web with no dang issues or problems at all but soon as I come to this site I have a hell of a time getting on it and around it or replying to messages. On any other site I have no problems at all with replying to messages or getting around other forums. Only this one  :RantExplode:

Tomorrow, I am calling my phone company up and requesting a new dang broadband box be sent out also. I think the one I have right now is part of the dang issue also and yet I keep getting told it's not the box. the last time a issue like this happen the lady said the same thing and I told her just to send a guy out and we'll find out and she did and it turns out the other box was indeed the issue and I made sure she knew it because when the guy called it in I said it in the back ground nice and loud for her to hear it.

ODZKing

I've been getting it as well.  I don't think it's on your end.

Man, I'm glad you spoke up. I was staring to think it my broadband box crapping out but sense you said you are also having the same issue that would rule my thought out about my box.

It probably his sofa giving out "negative" energy

GPULLER

I have the same problem too.  Sometimes I can be reading the last unread posts, then it gives me a "time out" and then "Oops Internet can not display page".  Can't log out or do anything, just have to close out of the Internet window and start over again.  I does the same thing while posting too.  Never happens anywhere else.

Troy

I thought I answered this but it's difficult to keep track of multiple threads on the same subject...

For the past few weeks we've been experiencing some rather odd slowdowns. They appear to be at random times but more frequently during the day. Whether a user sees a timeout or not depends on the browser and their individual settings. I initially thought the slowness was due to someone running a very broad search (one that would take a while and return lots of results) but when I've been able to check I haven't turned up anything. We've had a lot of spiders (search indexing "bots") logged in recently but I don't think that's enough to overload the server either.

Any way, I'm still trying to diagnose things. It may not be the only problem for any particular user but it may be part of the problem.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

MoparManJim

Well my issue isn't only during the day, it's also happening at night to. There is nothing wrong with my settings, if they was, the other sites would be given me the same issue but yet there not though. It's only this site which is starting to lead me to think there is a issue with the site here some where and it's starting to get worst it looks like.

I hope you can track down the issue before it get's worst.

MoparManJim

Okay, that does it, I am tired of this time out crap. I just tryed getting onto the web site about 10 minutes and it took me up to now to get on here (time is 10:29PM). The mods has got to do something about this issue.. as it seems to be getting worst it looks like. It was onlt doing the time outs in the day times, now it looks like it's doing time outs at night also. If you all want to chat or talk to me, you all can find me over on face book, or one of the model clubs that I hang out on and post on. Because with all the time out's I been getting on this site recently and others also said they been having the same issues as well like I been just trying to get around the site with all the time out's, I'm not going to be dropping by to much just to find out there is a time out going on if that is how it wants to be. because every other site I go to I don't have this issue with them at all or any issue at all.. only this site  ::)

A383Wing

I had issues tonight trying to get into the site as well, about the same time....just would not load.....I don't think it's any one person here in particular, I think it the site or something....I just waited longer and came back when it would load

Hi A383Wing, that's why I said it looks like others are having the same issue that I am having  :icon_smile_wink: , meaning it's not only me that are having the issues but the site is. This stuff has been going on all week long during different times. It was going on around 4 in the evening the other day, then yesterday around 3:30 pm. Then tonight around 10 it started to do it. So it's not only during the day it's going on. If you all don't see me posting on here very much anymore, you all will understand why.

MoparManJim

Well it happen again alittle while ago. AND this time I know for a plan fact it's not my broadband now. Reason that is I just got a brand new broadband modem today from the phone company as my other box blew up on me the other night. I just got back online around noon today after getting the new box  :2thumbs:  , so now it's not my pc, and it's not the model   .. that only leaves the site here now  :shruggy: . Honestly I thought it was my modem before making the issue seem like a time out to me but now even with the new model I had ran into the time out issue like an hour on this very site  :-\ so that leaves the modem theory out.

Might I make a suggestion here? to who ever runs this board, maybe you call into the place that this board is provided by and check with them about the issue that me and after others are having also with this so called time out issue on the site. I bet the company could find out where the "time out" issue is coming from. But like I mention, it's only a suggestion.

Try using Firefox instead of IE, and telete your browser cache too.
I had seen this on a few systems since they "upgraded" to IE8.

Also its been happening a lot to me recently since i played aroutn with my RWIN settings.
Moral of the story, if it works, dont tweak it until it breaks .

LOL, I only use Firefox, bud. I haven't used IE for at least 3 months now.  I had to IE the day how ever to access one thing to get my broadband new moden up and working right though. Other then that I haven't been using it at all. Thanks though for the suggestion

Tell you what, you said the time out, it's been happening with you also recently right? Can you each time it does it log it down on the time and date and post it in this thread? I'm thinking of doing that myself. Because personally I think it's bull crap to get that many dang time outs from one web site.

Oh okay, but we should still log them though, to see if there is a patern. Plus it might also help the mods out with the data.

That's what I'm talking about  :yesnod:, I know and realize I'm not a mod on this site at all. But I'm going to watch these logs of when the Time Out happens and see if there is a patern  :scratchchin: or not. I'm not sure but maybe these logs can help out in some way shape or form to maybe narrow in on the issue.  :shruggy:

If not, we will at least have a log of when the Time Out's happen

Like i said before, there is something going on right now on this site that even the mod's doesn't know about. And it's getting worst to. I'm keeping track of the logs you all are posting and but it's going to take at least afew weeks worth of logining though before I can tell what the patern is if there is one. If I was one of the mod's, I would get ahold of the company that makes the boards and see what is going on in there system and see if that they can track down the Time Out issue and find out where it is coming from and what is doing it. Someone will know for sure.

I tryed getting back online last night and for afew hours I couldn't even get on the site at all. I had to go to facebook to let a friend know something.

I've been really busy for the last 3 weeks (and gone to Carlisle for the last 4 days) but I'll try to work on things tonight.

For the record, I own the site, I own the server the site runs on, and I am in charge of all the maintenance so there's not really anyone else to call to troubleshoot it. If I don't figure it out then we're pretty much hosed. I have to say I haven't been seeing nearly the problems that are being reported and I'm usually on here randomly at all hours of the day. The longest I've seen it slow down has been a few minutes. So, I'll keep checking the server and traffic logs to see what shows up.

I hope you had a enjoyable weekend then man, I heard the event was a good one.

I wasn't sure who owned the site or the stuff on it. But thanks for clearing that up for me man. Isn't there a software place that this site runs off of? There has to be. Because all net stuff has a root to it some where. That root is what we have to locate/find to maybe get answers from. I'm watching the log times the members post to see when the Time out's starts and at what time they get worst at. There is always a patern, I'm looking to see what the patern is. I'm not trying to step on your toes or anything at all Troy, just trying to help find out where the issue is coming from or maybe narrow it down some what. Your doing a good job with the site with keeping it up and running even with the time outs on it all the time. At first I honestly thought it was my pc doing it.. and I didn't say anything. Then after I got another pc I notice I was still having the same issue. That was when I posted about the issue to see if anyone else was indeed having the same issue and turn's out I wasn't the only one having it it looks like. You got a issue at hand man on your site that you can't find so far but it's here though some where as members are running into it from time to time during the days and night's. I would hate to see something happen to the site like alot of others would. I'll keep monitoring the Log's from when people post the times when it happens to them and see if I can maybe find patern to all of time out issue.

The server is in Chicago so the time that is displayed by default is in that time zone. You can adjust the clock in your profile (click "Look and Layout Preferences" in the menu then look for the "Time Offset" box).

Well, it appears the Time Out's are (maybe was leading) to the issues that happen last night? :shruggy:

The board went down last night around 11:00PM. at 10:15PM last night (July 12, 2010) the board started having connection issues and wouldn't load. It did this up til around 10:50PM and then around 11:00PM this message appeared
QuoteTable './dodgecha_forum/sessions' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

and that was there up to around at 5:00AM this morning. But judging from what you said it was still there at 7:00AM so that mean the board was off line for at least 7hours+ . I wonder if it had to do with the Time Out issues we been having and loggin on here.
