An act of stupidity that I committed over 20 years ago has been made right.

Those of you that know me, or have been around here awhile know that my first

Charger was a ' 72 Petty Blue SE that I bought back in 1982. :coolgleamA:

After owning and driving that SE for years....

I sold it in the late eighties, to a moron who wrecked it -BADLY- a few

weeks later. :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

For the last couple of decades, I've kept my eyes open for another ' 72 SE. :scope:

Everytime I found one, I was either flat broke, or the car was too far away, or it

was too expensive, or it was too rusty, or the house needed fixing, the truck was

broken, the dog died, I needed to pee, I was too fat to get up off the couch, the

Ol' lady was pissed off about something, you know... the whole sob story full of

excuses... :bawling:

Then....

I was reading the DodgeCharger.com "Cars for sale" section the other night...

And spotted an ad that said "72 Dodge Charger SE" for sale....

I pm'ed the seller "Jerry" and after several days of him graciously putting up with

my crap, hundreds of photos being taken by him and sent to me via e-mail,

bunches of phone calls and Jerry just going WAY out of his way to convince my

hard headed, stubborn ass that this SE was "The one"

I bought it. :boogie:

It will be here in a couple of weeks. :woohoo: :woohoo:

THANKS JERRY ! :2thumbs:

I OWE YOU BIG TIME !

Here's a pic from back in the day (1984? 1985?) of the one that got away, sitting beside my parent's driveway, awaiting it's next engine transplant after I'd grenaded yet another motor  :brickwall:

By the way, in case I didn't mention it, your new Pride and Joy is a factory Full White Vinyl top car...you'll see on the fender tag
when you get it......and I expect to see one on him before too awfully long !

Do 72 SE's all have that funky slim quarter curtain? I scoped out a 72 today in Decatur, IN. Wondering if it was an SE/ Brougham car? It had a 383/727 9.25 combo. Someone ( a worse hack than myself) installed Continental? opera glass in the sail panels and the car was full of plastic. Had a nice looking hideaway assembly, though. For $4,700, I passed.

Nice looking car!   I've always wondered what happened to my dads 72 SE  comp. orange with black vinyl top. He traded it in in Wisconson in 1974.

Yep, it gets a full vinyl top.

Just as Mother Mopar intended.

That Half top / Sport top thing is history.
