I have a few questions. While my car is in the bodyshop getting final paint I sarted messing with the engine.
Right now the car has a 440 engine from 1975
the heads are 452 castings so I assume they are original to the block. Im not sure if they have had any porting done.
The intake is an Edelbrock ch4b (if I remember correctly)
Carb is a Holley 4bbl
Im assuming it has a stock cam in it.
It also has a MSD ignition and cheap summit racing longtube headers

Assuming that everything is pretty much stock, would this set-up make decent power? estimated hp?
If I wanted to make more power would it be better and more cost effective to have the heads ported or buy aftermarket heads?

Need more info like which "stock cam", which Holley and whether it still has the factory low compression.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I can get the carb number posted up tonight, im not sure how to figure out which cam is in it without pulling it out. I am assuming it would have factory compression.
I guess Im just trying to figure out if this is going to be a dog on the street or if its best to just do some upgrades while the engine is out.  Would pictures help at all?

I found the number 3752 stamped on the carb. It is a 4bbl double pumper.

With the headers and aftermarket intake you should be in the 300hp range. The low compression and stock cam will hurt peak power. It should run fine on low octane pump gas.
